While it might not be here for at least a few years, Grand Theft Auto VI is officially the next title coming from Rockstar Games according to recent reports. Yes despite its far off release date, Rockstar also hinted that there’s even a chance GTA VI may contain less content than previous games.
This all comes as a result of the company’s continued efforts to reduce crunch in the workplace. After reportedly working 100-hour work weeks leading up to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar stirred up some controversy, and many believe that the large workload is why Dan Houser, the company’s co-founder, departed earlier this year.
Now, Rockstar is looking at ways to reduce crunch in the workplace while still meeting the bar that’s been set by so many excellent games. One of those plans includes releasing a “moderately sized” game and continually updating it over time, similar to the way in which the company has handled the rollouts of GTA Online and Red Dead Online.
Still Rockstar’s games are normally much larger than your average release, so a moderately sized GTA could be a lot larger than you think. It might not be the ideal scenario, but this could be the only answer when it comes to finishing games on time and eliminating intense working schedules.
