The Warhammer 40,000 Battlewagon is in full force with yet more new releases for 9th Edition, including new models and updated Codexes. Join us as we take a quick look at the new announcements made during the Warhammer 40K Launch Party.
We knew that there would be new codexes for tabletop wargame Warhammer 40,000, but the Launch Party gave us our first glimpse at the new Space Marines and Necron Codexes. These are obviously replacements for the previous version and will feature updated rules for the new range of models, as well as updates to older units. Both look amazing with new artwork throughout and GW claim to have made them simpler and easier to understand. We’ll let you know as soon as we get our hands on one. The Space Marine Codex is not just a replacement for the prior release, however, but also combines many of the First Founding and Deathwatch Codexes. GW has also confirmed that there will be supplement codexes for many of our favorite chapters such as Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and Death Watch.
Vehicle fans can rejoice as a new tank will be coming soon. Based upon the earlier Impulsor, the new Gladiator will be arriving soon in three different flavors. We expect parts to be supplied for all three in the same box giving you plenty of options during construction. The three variants are Valiant - aimed at heavy infantry and light armored vehicles, Reaper - aimed at ground troops, and Lancer - aimed at heavily armored vehicles.
Don’t worry, the Necrons have not been left out. The Monolith is back in the form of floating obelisks that traverse the battlefield. They act as a hybrid transport/heavy tank, ferrying troops while unleashing devastating bursts of energy capable of felling the mightiest foe that the enemy has to offer.
The final bit of news came in a short 38-second clip that showcase close-ups of some of the new models, before settling on one. The Sisters of Battle have a new commander, Palatine who looks like she can kick some serious a… butt on the battlefield.
No doubt GW has plenty of new models for us and we can’t wait to get painting them. As soon as we know more we’ll let you know.
