//HEX is an upcoming title from indie developer and publisher, Solis Studios, that fans of communication-type party games will want to keep their eyes on.

Along the same vein as Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and Them Bombs, //HEX is a team-based game that requires quick and concise communication from everyone involved. The game will release on PC via Steam on July 31st.

In //HEX, one player takes on the role of a Hacker who is working to hack into some of the most secure banks in the world. However, doing so requires taking direction from Control, which is the role of the other player who needs to relay the directions that the Hacker needs to follow to hack in.

The kicker is that neither player has access to what the other player is seeing. The Hacker is unable to see the directions that the Control person can see, and the Control person is unable to see the screen interface of the computer that the Hacker is hacking into. As such, good communication is pivotal in being successful in //HEX.

While the game follows the same sort of ideas as Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and Them Bombs, it’s nice that //HEX doesn’t retread the same ground of “diffuse the bomb in time,” and instead, puts players in a more offensive role. Finally, we can play out our dream of being just like hacking genius, Seth Green, in The Italian Job.
