Youtube Engineer “The Hacksmith” has created a mythical Marvel weapon to add to his impressive armory. The Arc Reactor Shield fuses the traditional assists of superheroes Captain America and Iron Man into one.
James Hobson, a.k.a. The Hacksmith from Canada, continues to achieve the impossible with his new Civil Warrior prototype. Civil Warrior is essentially Captain America in an alternate universe who merges with Iron Man’s tech. The superhero carries the iconic Cap shield except this time there’s an Arc Reactor in the center. The engineer has managed to recreate the legendary Arc Reactor Shield, and his thorough YouTube video breaks down the detailed process.
The creator starts by explaining the origin of his inspiration with a brief backstory on the Civil Warrior. After The Hacksmith does a line of concrete durability tests on the original Cap shield, he then starts work on the new design. By deconstructing the pre-built prototype of the iconic shield, he then uses its measurements to incorporate the Arc Reactor within. Using the modelling program SoftWorks, Hobson is able to build a digital, 3D representation of how the Arc Reactor would function within the shield. After the design was completed, he then moved on to the hardest part - the wiring.
The Hacksmith included blue LED’s in the build to supply the reactor’s blue light, however it then had to be weaponized. Iron Man’s Overload move in the mobile game Marvel Contest of Champions is primarily used to obliterate enemies. Therefore, Hobson asked a fellow YouTuber for some assistance. StyroPyro supplied a 100w blue laser to be installed in the shield that would allow the reactor to glow and destroy. Complete with one of the most powerful laser rays in the world, the shield was then ready for testing.
Wearing goggles to protect his eyes from the LED, Hobson managed to burn “Hack” into a piece of wood using the built Arc Reactor. With the shield passing the Hacksmith’s test, it was then time to conclude the video with some special effects. Various objects and employees got blasted by the Arc Reactor that flaunted the creator’s skills in editing and visual effects.
The Hacksmith Industries video has gained over 850,000 views since it was posted yesterday and it features some amazing results. The engineer’s creations may not look as majestic in real life, but they’re fully functional and ready for battle.
