Half-Life: Alyx has easily become one of the most sought after and highly anticipated games in recent history. Now that it’s finally here, Half-Life: Alyx has been met with near universal critical acclaim. However, since its release, many Half-Life fans all over the internet have begun to create memes that centralize around one particular part of the game.
Apparently, players can access the in-game video files and replace the opening video with anything they want. This has obviously led to some pretty hilarious results. With how oversaturated the internet has become with Half-Life 3 memes, this shows a rather nice change of pace. In addition to the non-VR mode that players have discovered, it seems that this game has many more surprises just waiting to be discovered.
Half-Life is one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time. The release of the original Half-Life back in November of 1998 put Valve on the video gaming map and was what largely contributed to Valve’s future success as a studio all throughout the 2000s. Unfortunately, Valve had yet to put out a new Half-Life game since Half-Life 2: Episode 2, which released in October of 2007. However, out of nowhere, Valve announced the release of Half-Life: Alyx, a full thirteen years later, and members of the gaming community lost their minds.
Since the game’s release, Half-Life: Alyx has been universally praised, with critics saying that it was well worth the wait. That being said, the game has only been out for four days and members of the gaming community have begun to create memes out of the game’s opening video.
In the short amount of time that this game has been out, players have been enthralled by what it has to offer. Given the advanced nature of the technology used to play the game, there are many possibilities for players to try. In fact, someone actually managed to climb all the way to the top of the citadel featured in the game’s promo, a place that was not intended for player exploration.
Then again, it did take thirteen years for Valve to make another Half-Life game, and even then, it’s still not Half-Life 3, the game that people have been asking for since 2007. Not to mention no new Portal installment on the horizon either. So, despite all of the success of Half-Life: Alyx, the question remains, will this game bring Valve as a gaming studio back? Only time will tell.
Half-Life: Alyx is available now exclusively for Steam.
