Players around the world are excited to get the news that Halo 3: ODST is coming to the Master Chief Collection on PC very soon. There have been hints of what to expect in the previous months, including screenshots of ODST. The wait is almost over, and Halo fans can soon play ODST on their PC as well as their Xbox.

The Halo franchise is one of Microsoft’s crowning achievements in the gaming world, selling over 65 million units since its debut. Master Chief, the stoic armored hero, has inspired countless cosplay outfits and even a mod for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Without a doubt, Halo has had, and continues to have, a big impact even outside the gaming community.

The release is something that Halo fans have been requesting for a long time. The beta test may have been delayed, but Halo developers exceeded expectations, making swift progress to release the campaigns as high-quality products. They’ve already proved their mighty bug-finding skills in the Master Chief Collection, so the final port of ODST will, hopefully, be glitch-free.

Best of all, PC gamers will get multiplayer in ODST in the form of Firefight, a cooperative mode in which up to four players must face off against waves of Covenant attackers with only 7 lives to share between them. Once those lives are gone, it’s game over. Most likely, players will be able to connect their games for this mode via LAN or through Halo’s own servers on Xbox Live, just like they could on Xbox.

There are a lot of reasons for players who have not had an Xbox to jump on this, besides the obvious fact that it’s simply a great FPS game. Also, as if there weren’t enough incentive to get into the series, ODST features main characters with voices from the cult classic TV show Firefly, specifically Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, and Adam Baldwin, and has a “Firefly” achievement which can be unlocked by killing a drone with a flame grenade.

Other Halo notables to watch out for include the Halo TV series, first announced in May 2013 and scheduled to pilot in 2021, with Pablo Schreiber starring as Master Chief himself. And of course, originally announced at E3 back in 2018, Halo Infinite will be featured in the July Xbox 20/20 event.
