After years of waiting, Halo fans were finally treated to the first-ever Halo Infinite campaign footage at the Xbox Games Showcase event. This included a look at some brand new weapons that will be making their debut in Halo Infinite, which have since been further detailed by 343 Industries.
Speaking to IGN, 343 has offered some additional details on the new weapons seen in the Halo Infinite campaign footage. The new weapons coming to the game include the CQS48 Bulldog, Mangler, Pulse Carbine, Ravager, and VK78 Commando.
As detailed by IGN, the Ravager is a Banished weapon that fires shots in a three-round burst and comes with a blade at the end for added melee damage. The Mangler is another Banished-faction weapon and it is essentially the Banished-equivalent of the UNSC pistol. The Pulse Carbine is similar to the Covenant carbine, whereas the Bulldog and Commando are new UNSC weapons. The Bulldog is a new take on Halo’s shotgun, featuring 12 gauge rounds and a drum magazine, whereas the Commando is a standard full auto rifle.
It’s likely that Halo Infinite has more new weapons and gadgets that have yet to be revealed for the game, as fans were shown very little during the Xbox Games Showcase event. Microsoft showed off eight minutes of Halo Infinite campaign footage during the event, revealing some things like Master Chief’s grappling hook and the open world environment, but keeping the vast majority of the game a secret.
In fact, arguably the most exciting aspect of Halo Infinite is still shrouded in mystery. Fans have no idea what to expect from Halo Infinite’s multiplayer so far, with the only details being that it will be available with the game at launch. There are some rumors that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer may be free-to-play, but they are unsubstantiated at the time of this writing. With the Xbox Games Showcase event focusing on Halo Infinite campaign gameplay, one has to imagine that Microsoft will want to unveil its multiplayer next, but that’s just speculation at this time.
Rumors are that Xbox plans on hosting another games showcase event at some point in August, so maybe fans will learn more about Halo Infinite and its new weapons then.
Halo Infinite launches later this year for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
