Halo: Point of Light will release on March 2, 2021, taking the total number of books published in the Halo universe to 30.

Point of Light is the culmination of the trilogy which began with Halo: Smoke and Shadow in 2016 and continues with Halo: Renegades in 2019. Written by Kelly Gay, Point of Light is set in August 2558 and follows Rion Forge’s quest for hope along with the crew of the Ace of Spades as they deal with the fallout of the previous books.

According to Halo Waypoint, the official summary reads:

August 2558. Rion Forge was once defined by her relentless quest for hope amidst the refuse and wreckage of a post-Covenant War galaxy—years spent searching for family as much as fortune. But that was before Rion and the crew of her salvager ship Ace of Spades encountered a powerful yet tragic being who forever altered their lives. This remnant from eons past, when the Forerunners once thrived, brought with it a revelation of ancient machinations and a shocking, brutal history.

Unfortunately, the Ace crew also made dire enemies of the Office of Naval Intelligence in the process, with the constant threat of capture and incarceration a very real possibility. Now with tensions mounting and ONI forces closing in, Rion and her companions commit to this being’s very personal mission, unlocking untold secrets and even deadlier threats that have been hidden away for centuries from an unsuspecting universe. . .

The cover art for Halo: Point of light is done by William “Pixelflare” Cameron, who is renowned for his digital art for Halo and Destiny among other video game titles.

The Halo novel series has expanded the game’s universe via a number of long and short stories, adding flavour to one of the most beloved video game franchises. The previous novel in the trilogy, Halo: Renegades, followed Rion’s quest to grow her business and search for her long-lost father. However, a Forerunner debris field not only hindered her quest, but also made her a target of the Office of Naval Intelligence and the remains of the Covenant. It evolves into an all-out smash and grab for the ancient Forerunner technology within the debris field.
