Despite Halo Infinite being a spotlight for Xbox at E3 2019, it’s Halo: Reach that franchise fans may be most excited for. In March, earlier this year, Xbox and 343 Industries confirmed that Halo: Reach would be coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It’d also be coming to PC, leading the way for a full PC Halo: The Master Chief Collection release, as well. Fans have since waited diligently, but the wait me coming to an end.

According to an official update from 343 Industries, Halo: Reach “Flight” testing is just about ready to begin. The studio says that it’s happy with, but still testing, a build of Halo: Reach that could initiate its first round of beta testing as soon as next week. 343’s Flighting is akin to most beta testing, in that it’ll be open to a limited group of players at first.

For those hoping to participate in the Halo: Reach beta test, only those registered for the Halo Insiders program will have a chance at being invited. Registration is through the Halo Waypoint website and requires opting in to either or both the PC and console flighting. Not all registrants will be invited to participate.

In many ways, the Halo franchise is entering a new chapter. That it starts not with Halo Infinite, which will launch alongside the Xbox’s Project Scarlet next-gen hardware in 2020, but with Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s release on PC and the relaunch of Halo: Reach is a testament to the importance of the franchise’s origins even now. And despite the mild reception to Halo 4 and Halo 5, fans are increasingly excited for Halo: Reach’s upcoming launch, which could indicate that the potential of the franchise remains high.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on Xbox One and will launch on PC later this year. Halo: Reach will join Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC and Xbox One later this year.
