Disney+ has been releasing a slew of movies early, but now it has been announced that the Hamilton movie is going to be coming out this July. To the surprise of many, the movie will be coming out July 3rd, which is a lot sooner than most had anticipated.
Hamilton swept the country when it released in 2015, and it was so popular that many never even got a chance to see the production. The movie was originally intended to come out in 2021, but now will be releasing this July on Disney+ instead.
What makes this film particularly exciting is that it isn’t a film adaptation of the musical, but a recording of an actual performance of the play itself. In this way, viewers can get the true experience of the musical from their own home on Disney+. Naturally, people are thrilled about the announcement of its early release.
Disney paid a lot of money to get the rights for Hamilton, but it is more than likely that it will make a lot of that money back as more people sign onto the subscription service to see the play. Now there’s less than two months to wait, rather than almost a full year.
