Today is a very special day - March 10 marks the annual Mario Day, or “Mar10 Day,” as it’s been dubbed. To celebrate, Nintendo is celebrating with a number of discounts through My Nintendo Rewards and big retailers.
According to Nintendo UK, European users will be able to obtain double Gold Points today on select digital downloads starring Mario, including Super Mario Odyssey and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. This promotion works through the eShop or Nintendo UK’s site.
For those who have yet to buy a Nintendo Switch, there are two promotions going on that might motivate you to buy the console. First, through the retailers above, when buying a select Switch console, you’ll be able to get one of the above Mario games of your choice on sale, bringing the overall purchase to $329.98. The other promotion is once through other retailers: select Switch consoles will provide you with a $35 gift certificate for the Nintendo eShop.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that the Mario titles are only on sale through retailers, and not through the eShop, so you can’t use the $35 credit on one of the $39.99 titles, as the games will still be $59.99 through the eShop.
This is beneficial if you only planned on buying Super Mario Odyssey, for example, as the credit will bring the price down to $34.99. However, it’s probably better to take advantage of the $40 games through a retailer, and then use the $35 credit on other digital games.
If you happen to be in New York City on Mar10 Day, Nintendo NY is hosting several Mario activities. Also, for those who keep up with their My Nintendo Awards, a new computer and mobile wallpaper is now available. There are also a number of Mario titles that you can redeem your points for this month, such as Super Mario 3D World (30% off) and Mario Golf: World Tour (40% off).
