Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has finally added Year 5 to the game, bringing with it brand new story content, new classes for players to complete, Prefect side quests, and more. Part of the update saw the addition of new potential friendships for players to make, with a total of four new characters added to the friendship lineup.
If Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players scroll all the way to the right when looking at the Friendships menu, they will see some new faces. While it’s unclear exactly when players will be able to befriend these new characters, it seems likely that they will all be added as official friends at some point in Year 5. This means players will be able to complete friendship activities with them like having meals in the Great Hall, playing Gobstones in the courtyard, or drinking butterbeer at the The Three Broomsticks in exchange for various rewards.
All the new friends in Year 5 are Year 5 students, and they are as follows:
- Jae Kim (Gryffindor) Badeea Ali (Ravenclaw) Liz Tuttle (Slytherin) Diego Caplan (Hufflepuff)
For Gryffindor students, Liz Tuttle is one of the only new Year 5 friends that they’ve actually seen in the game before. She is a Slytherin student who can be seen in the background during classes, so it’s interesting that her role is being expanded in Year 5. How exactly she will befriend the player character remains to be seen, but more information on that front should come to light in the coming weeks.
If players have taken the role of a Gryffindor student, they may be confused as to why their character would be friends with Liz Tuttle, as Slytherins and Gryffindors traditionally do not get along. However, it’s worth pointing out that there is another Slytherin student that’s part of the friends roster in the form of Barnaby Lee, who proves not all Slytherins are evil as stereotypes suggest.
We’ll learn more about Liz Tuttle and the other new Year 5 friends when they are properly added to the Friendships roster later this year. In the meantime, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players can continue building their existing friendships by completing activities with their friends.
