Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans are still waiting for romance options to be added to the game, and while Jam City has yet to give an update about the feature, it has indicated in the past that it is in fact in the works. It’s unclear at this point if players will have a choice when it comes to romance options, or if love interests are set in stone. It’s also unclear if Merula Snyde, the popular character from Slytherin, will be a love interest or not.

Since Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery launched a couple months ago, it has built a dedicated fan base that has embraced some of the characters in the game. Merula Snyde seems to be especially popular, with plenty of fan art created in her honor, and some fans even cosplaying as her. Considering Merula’s popularity, it seems as though making her a romance option would be a popular choice by Jam City.

In the past, Jam City has indicated that both friends and enemies are potential love interests for the player character, and since Merula is one of the few characters that can actually be considered an “enemy” in the game, one has to imagine that she is a shoo-in for a romance option.

Merula and the player character have a long history together, sometimes battling it out in duels, and other times begrudgingly working together to solve the mystery of the Cursed Vaults. As the game has progressed, Merula has become less antagonistic, with other Slytherin students taking her place as the main villains. She still takes every opportunity to insult the player character, but she has definitely softened up compared to the game’s earlier years.

This slight change of heart could be the slow turn to Merula eventually becoming friends with the player character, and then later a love interest. Of course, we could be way off base, and it’s possible that there are no plans for Merula to be a potential love interest for the player character.

There’s actually very little we know about romance options in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery at the time of this writing. Beyond Jam City’s past comments that have indicated the feature is in the works, all fans can do is speculate about what it will entail. Hopefully more details come soon, along with more Year 4 story content.
