While Pokemon GO players are preparing for this weekend’s massive GO Fest 2020 anniversary event, witches and wizards in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite are also experiencing a big week. There may not be an event that over a million users are buying tickets for, but the recently announced new skill trees are available in the mobile AR game and players are able to dive into the new feature starting this evening.

Like most major new features in Niantic games, the SOS Training was only available to level 40 players at first and Niantic lowered the minimum requirement gradually after ensuring that no major bugs or other problems were present. At this point, every Wizards Unite witch and wizard who has hit level 4 (the minimum requirement for SOS Training) now has access to the game’s new skill trees and can start working through the new content and seeing what bonuses and enhancements are available.

The Wizards Unite community is already busy analyzing each path of the talent trees and figuring out which level ups are most important and will have the biggest impact on the metagame (and the biggest impact on each profession). That said, the average player doesn’t need to worry too much about any of that and can just concentrate on having fun and working through the talent trees at their own pace and concentrate on whatever makes the game the most fun for them. The opportunity to really go a step further and do some min-maxing is exciting for the most hardcore members of the community, but that won’t be important to everyone.

Wizards Unite has always had a better way to customize characters than Pokemon GO thanks to the three professions in the game, but the SOS Training takes things one step further by offering additional possibilities and new ways to power up in the game. The new trainings also offer a great carrot on a stick for the hardcore players who finished leveling up ages ago and need a new goal to pursue outside of ongoing events and completing special tasks. Aside from gaining early access to new features, reaching max level in Wizards Unite doesn’t offer a ton of ongoing in-game rewards, so it will definitely be a good change of pace to have a new goal to chase down and earn some real gameplay benefits from completing.

Stay tuned for more details as the actual SOS Training release date approaches. Be sure to check back in the comings days for more Wizards Unite strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, keep your wands at the ready!
