With Persona 4 Golden’s recent successful launch on Steam, many question if the PS Vita will continue to live. Now that Persona 4 isn’t a console exclusive anymore, what will bring people to buy the Vita?

Almost nothing can bring people to buy the handheld console anymore. Persona 4 Golden was the best game on the console, and the reason why many bought said console. With the title originally releasing on the PlayStation 2, fans have waited a long time for a chance to experience the updated version.

Another game featured on the Vita was Gravity Rush - one of the other top-selling games on the console. This was soon ported to the PS4, a more readily available console.

With a majority of Vita’s games now going to other platforms, it does not make much sense for players to buy the outdated console. Persona 4 Golden was truly the nail in the coffin for the console, with many even speculating that the other titles in the series will soon follow suit.

It would be an understatement to say that the Steam release was a success. In fact, it broke the record for the most concurrent players in a non-MMO, taking the record from Final Fantasy 15.

The jump to PC has brought a lot of added features that include sharper graphics and an uncapped frame rate. Even though the experience is exactly the same, the depth of options that players have is not.

Many fans were disappointed with the port, stating that it is not fair for those who have PS4s, since the games have always been Sony exclusives. Even with a torn fanbase, many try to remain positive for the future.

This series will more than likely see more ports as time goes on. With the PS5 right around the corner, more classic titles could be underway. Perhaps even the original Persona from the PS1 will make a debut.

The PS Vita had promise, but Sony’s portable console could not live forever.
