The final member of the original line-up of Avengers from the MCU will be making his way to Marvel’s Avengers after release, as Square Enix has announced that Hawkeye will be coming to the game as post-launch DLC.

Marvel’s Avengers is an upcoming action RPG that is being published by Square Enix. The story is set in its own continuity that is separate from the comics or the movies. In Marvel’s Avengers, the team is forced to disband following an event called A-Day, where most of San Francisco is destroyed when a Terrigan Crystal in the Avenger’s headquarters is detonated. Captain America is also seemingly killed in the attack. Years later, Ms. Marvel tries to reform the team, following the discovery of new information regarding the events of A-Day.

The playable characters in Marvel’s Avengers at launch include Black Widow, Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, and Thor. The developers have previously announced that more playable characters will be coming to the game in post-launch updates. The first post-launch character has now been revealed, as Hawkeye will be coming to the game in the future. A trailer for Hawkeye has been uploaded to the official Marvel Avenger’s YouTube channel.

According to a press release issued by Square Enix, Clint Barton will have his own original story-arc in Marvel’s Avengers. Hawkeye will have access to a high-tech bow and a selection of trick arrows, and his missions can be played either solo or co-op. The dialogue in the trailer suggests that Hawkeye will be one of several backup Avengers who need to fill the void left by the team. The upcoming Hawkeye missions can utilize the entire playable roster and they will also introduce a new villain to the story.

Square Enix has yet to reveal a release date for Hawkeye, but we do know that all of the content related to the character will be added for free. More information about Hawkeye and future DLC characters will be revealed soon, as the release of the game is only a few months away.

Marvel’s Avengers will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on September 4, 2020, and launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X in Q4 2020.
