It sounds strange to put the words LEGO and The Witcher in one sentence - and yet that’s exactly what fans of the popular RPG franchise are clamoring for. After the release of Netflix’s adaptation of Geralt’s adventures, they can’t get enough and have their sights firmly set on world domination. So if this unlikely pairing was to take off, what would it look like?
Here we take a look at a couple of the options currently being discussed to figure out if and how this beautiful vision could be brought to life.
A Conversion Project
The first option is a straight conversion to a LEGO game, beautifully illustrated by this fan art posted on Reddit by u/allbrom955.
While this looks amazing, a straight copy of the existing game would be pointless and far too complex. However, combining the basic story of the existing games could potentially work. In the same way, the Netflix adaptation cuts out a lot of the extras, so too could a LEGO version of the games.
There’s just one issue with this, the content. LEGO is a notoriously family-friendly company and Geralt, not so much. The foul-mouthed Witcher is a fan of the f-bomb and leaves a trail of blood and guts in his wake. That’s before we even touch on the whole Yennifer and Triss debacle. This would make a direct adaptation difficult to pull off. However, there is another way.
A PG Concept
Previous LEGO games have involved action, adventure, and even monster slaying. While they don’t have the same level of sex and violence as The Witcher, action-adventure franchises including Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park have been adapted.
While Geralt himself is NSFW, the concept of a monster hunter is far more adaptable. A Witcher could hunt down and eliminate threats in a family-friendly way, seeing beasts explode into those shiny LEGO coins we all love. Surely we can just gloss over the whole process of becoming a Witcher, the hatred of others and the tendency to leave a trail of chaos and cursing?
Ok maybe not but at the very least we grown-ups would like some Witcher themed mini-figures, please.
While these amazing custom Minifigures by DemonHunterBricks are stunning, we’d like an official set please, complete with LEGO Witcher school. If Overwatch fans can buy a LEGO Bastion then surely there’s room for LEGO Geralt?
