For many fans across the world, Overwatch is a title which has become a mainstay in the Blizzard, FPS, esports, and many other online communities since its 2016 launch. With the recent debut of the newest hero Echo and the upcoming sequel Overwatch 2 sometime by next year, it would come as no surprise for the game to keep a consistent presence in the news. Surprisingly, however, one of Overwatch’s oldest heroes began trending on Twitter earlier today: Lucio.

Lucio is a unique support who provides passive healing or speed bonuses to his team, can ride walls, and has the ability to knock back enemies, even off the map in some cases. Debuting as a launch hero, Lucio has been an immensely popular cosplay option over the years. But the reason Lucio is trending isn’t because of his gameplay or style, rather it’s a promotion.

In the morning, Razer announced that it is partnering up with Overwatch to give away a free Lucio-themed headset and mouse pad. Anyone looking to enter just has to follow Razer’s Twitter, retweet the post, and leave a comment about their favorite Overwatch hero. By the afternoon, the Lucio post is currently at over 9000 retweets with nearly as many comments.

While a promotion like this will normally draw some attention, the Twitter response from the community is more than Razer or the Overwatch team was probably expecting. However, it goes to show that after so many years, Lucio and the older heroes remain just as memorable.

Overwatch is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
