The upcoming Path of Exile: Heist expansion has you hire a crew of thieves to score big. The thieves, who prefer to be called specialists, offer several ways to sneak around during an operation, and completing a heist successfully brings big rewards.

You will visit a new location, Rogue Harbor, where you’ll find several freelance rogues willing to lend their services to your crew. There are 13 in total, with different skills to use in each heist.

Since the rogues are so skilled, they won’t come cheap. Contracting these individuals requires the use of markers, the currency in this seasonal league. Markers can be found easily by slaying monsters and through heist completions, so you won’t find yourself short.

Heist contracts can be found in the same way, and they are comparable to Path of Exile maps found throughout the game. In the same way that maps provide endgame content and progression, contracts allow for a gradual sense of progression throughout the season, always with the goal of stealing a specific Artifact.

Once inside and attempting a heist, you need to work your way to the Artifact while also keeping the Alert Level as low as possible. Certain actions will cause it to spike, such as killing patrols, stealing other items from chests, and grabbing the actual Artifact.

Once alerted, guards spawn more often, making your escape back to Rogue Harbor that much harder. Dying causes all items to be forfeit.

Things start off easy but quickly increase in difficulty as you spend rewards to buy blueprints, learn new routes, and train a crew, which all works towards that final goal: pulling off a grand heist. These are far more difficult jobs to complete and feature the most exclusive seasonal rewards like alternate quality gems, trinkets, body, weapon enchantments, experimented base types, and much more.

Path of Exile: Heist is available on September 18 for PC and September 23 for console.
