What can Hitman 3 do now that the series has concluded? Actually, there’s quite a bit. Think of what a baseball team can do after they’ve won a game. Shower, sign autographs, get ready for the next game, look at game film, etc. To fans of either Hitman 3 or baseball, the game might be finished. But to those involved, the work has only begun.
Hitman 1 and 2 were given huge improvements, DLC packages, and patches that changed the look, layout, and gameplay over time. It will most assuredly be no different for Hitman 3, which is already knocking it out of the park. But there are a few things the series can still do to knock it out of the park even further.
10 Polish Up The Current Product
The challenges that went into making Hitman 3 were met head-on. Most were conquered, but others, like server connectivity, and a few bugs and glitches, remained after the day one patch.
It’s not as bad as Cyberpunk 2077 or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla; the game is good. But having these technical difficulties contribute to a list of oddities that make no sense within the game itself. This should be the first step, no matter how excited fans might be for new content.
9 Add Multiplayer
Ghost Mode was taken down from Hitman 2 and fans of the multiplayer were really thinking it’d be back in Hitman 3. Sadly, though players have to stay online during their game time, no multiplayer setting shipped with the finished game.
And it’s too bad, because the cool outfits in the game are always fun to see on opposing players. The team claims they are taking what was learned and doing something bigger and better. The hype train is at maximum speed for whenever this will debut.
8 Release Expansions
The campaign might be finished, but that’s doesn’t stop the content from flowing. If the team is still together, how about throwing the fans a full-on expansion? Some new stories and intrigue would sure freshen up the series during those summer months when fans think they’ve seen it all.
Some players will have finally embraced the tips needed to make the game work with PSVR and will be ready for the next stroke of brilliance that the developers have in store. An expansion would make fans happy and net the company a bit of money. Win-win!
7 Profile Customization
Think about all of the hilarious Easter Eggs in Hitman. Then imagine them boldly displayed a player profile or as decoration for a player’s wallpaper. These are the types of touches that would make the trilogy feel more personal.
Plus, with leaderboards and mastery comparisons, players will want to be known for more than just names. Heck, give them some avatars and let them design their own agent! That would really strengthen the connection players have to the community.
6 Make New Modes
The multiplayer is one thing that’s apparently already in the works. And fan favorites like escalation and sniper assassin have come back. But somebody behind the scenes has surely had an idea for another mode.
Perhaps a mode that rewards making use of all of the amazing weapons introduced in Hitman 3. Or a range for gadgets instead of snipers. It’s a sandbox-style game, there is a lot of imagination still on the table.
5 Create A Shared City
Sports simulators have taken a peek inside the door with shared “parks” for players to hang out in and participate in fun mini-games and daily activities. This would be a great start for Hitman, but it doesn’t have to stop there.
What’s to block anyone from creating a city of assassination? It doesn’t have to be huge, but even one of the game’s maps for veterans to share their experience with rookies with tangible advice would be a pretty awesome concept.
4 Expand The Armory
Understandably, the developers are going to be fixing some of the basic issues with the game first. The armory isn’t in dire need of an upgrade, but there is room for growth that fans would appreciate.
At first glance, experts who unlock weapons will feel like they’ve got a ton of choices, but most items are re-skins of a single item. It’d be very possible to consolidate those and make room for some items that are actually new.
3 Institute Rank Rewards
Masteries and challenges give players tangible rewards, but the outdated rank bar is still only measuring rank with “points.” The points are about as valuable as the points in Super Mario Brothers; which is to say that they are completely worthless.
Whether it’s a cosmetic, a profile color, or an in-game item, players deserve some kind of benefit for ranking up. A high rank can be a measure of experience, but make the experience mean something!
2 Experiment For The Next Series
It cannot be understated that so long as you label a mode as experimental, players are okay to try a great idea with bad execution and have an open mind about it. So the development team should really use their fresh ideas to stretch what might be realistically possible.
Much like the old Ghost Mode, even imperfect trials can be fun and teach the developers about the community and about their own game code. There are boundaries, to be sure, but you never know when you’ve gone too wild until you get that feedback.
1 Release The Code
Modders are going to be messing with this game no matter what. But if the team feels they’ve taken Hitman 3 as far as it can go, after the dust has settled, why not let dedicated fans throw their hat into the ring to see what they can do?
By releasing the code, fans might very well find a way to cut down on bugs and glitches that can then be patched in. Or they can find a way to turn everything into a gigantic Minecraft simulator. You never know what could happen and that’s part of the fun!
