The second mission in the Hitman 3 main story brings players into a riveting and unusual situation unlike any other in the series: there’s a death that Agent 47 played no part in! The last game in the trilogy is really pulling out all the stops. Dartmoor offers the unique ability to solve a murder while preparing to commit another. Thornbridge Manor is filled with suspicious characters, secret rooms, and the potential for disaster.

While you’re busy balancing your inner sleuth with your outer assassin, you might miss some interesting stories, items, and more. These tips and secrets can help keep you on track for some of the smaller details and overarching mysteries hiding inside Thornbridge Manor.

10 Opening Carlisle’s Safe

Alexa Carlisle has a flair for the dramatics, so a hidden safe in her mansion fits right in. In classic mystery fashion, there is a combination safe stashed behind a painting in her second-floor office that can be revealed with some sleuthing (and the Instinct ability). There is a way to access the safe without having to sneak around through the Means, Motive, and Opportunity storyline, but should you decide to accept payment for your trouble rather than the case file, there is another way to retrieve it.

To open the safe, search around the office for the items depicted above the combination lock and find the numbers related to them. Entering the numbers in the correct order reveals the contents of the safe that the player needs to complete the mission.

9 Survival Instinct

Agent 47’s Instinct ability is perhaps one of the most useful abilities you have as a player, besides maybe your wide array of impressive weaponry. The ability allows you to detect objects, anticipate rotation schedules of guards, and follow your target from a distance.

If you’re ever in a pinch or lost as to what you’re doing, flipping on Agent 47’s Instinct will help you identify areas of interest you otherwise may have missed. It’s useful in planning your escape too!

8 A Key For Many Doors

Secret rooms are scattered all over Thornbridge and would stay secret if Alexa Carlisle and her counterparts have any say in it. Unlucky for them, Agent 47 has other ideas. As mentioned in the Dartmoor mission guide, there is a switch to one of these hidden rooms in the upper section of the library that requires a dog-shaped key to activate it.

In Gregory and Emma’s room, there is a peculiar dog-shaped object lingering near the fireplace that will activate the library switch and others around the manor. Hold onto the item to avoid having to scramble around for it later.

7 Remember The Subtitles

Thornbridge is alive with gossip. Between the funeral guests, the household staff, and the Carlisle family, Agent 47 has a wealth of information at his disposal. Turning your subtitles on for this contract will make sure you don’t miss any of the action while you’re busy looking for weapons, poison, and coins to throw.

This becomes particularly useful in the Means, Motive, and Opportunity storyline. Therefore, if you decide to explore Agent 47’s inner Sherlock Holmes, pop on those subtitles to ensure you gather all of the intel needed to solve the mystery.

6 Switching It Up

Keys aren’t the only items you can use to unlock rooms around the manor. Apart from the room in the library, there are three other secret rooms Agent 47 can access with a little detective work.

Paintings, books, and small buttons are all up for grabs when it comes to opening up the rooms. The Instinct ability makes finding these trigger objects easier, but if you want to try to find them without the ability, look in small and detailed spaces. Thornbridge won’t give up its secrets without a fight.

5 Agent 47 Dresses For Success

Disguises are one of the most useful ways around strictly guarded areas, and Dartmoor is no exception. Scoping out the areas you need to investigate can lead to infiltration routes, and disguises allow you to walk right in the front door of many areas.

In Dartmoor, one of the unique disguises Agent 47 can don is that of the private investigator hired by Alexa Carlisle. Not only will this disguise make investigating the grounds of the Thornbridge Manor a breeze, but it can also award some alone time with Alexa herself for a private assassination.

4 There Are Motives For Everyone

In any good mystery, there is a collection of suspects with interesting and believable reasons for murder. Hitman 3 took this to heart when crafting the characters in Dartmoor. While gathering clues surrounding Zachary Carlisle’s murder, players will be prompted when they have enough information to accuse someone.

There are three primary suspects (a fourth if you consider Zachary himself) and each accusation leads to a different achievement. The more intel you collect, the more evidence you’ll have to convince Alexa of who murdered Zachary.

3 Look To The Trees

Alexa Carlisle is planning her own funeral at the beginning of the mission. In the graveyard where the Undertaker is preparing Alexa’s false funeral, there are nests of crows in the trees that can give away your location by squawking.

If you choose to pursue the Her Final Resting Place storyline, getting rid of the crows will keep your movements quiet. Shooting the crows’ nests down rewards one achievement, but doing so without drawing the attention of the Undertaker will award you two!

2 Camera Angles

Searching for clues isn’t always physical. The camera scanning feature is new to Hitman 3 and offers plenty of spy potential, especially when trying to solve one murder and carry out another. Taking a picture of Alexa Carlisle, clearly alive rather than dead like she wishes the world to believe, will award an achievement.

You can also use the camera to scan Zachary Carlisle’s body to gather more intel on his apparent suicide. Both are easy misses on the first time through, and remembering your camera can be the ticket to opening up new methods of escape and infiltration. Be sure to keep that camera ability on hand for when you encounter something suspicious.

1 Try Going Up, Around, Or Through

Despite the dreary and chilly atmosphere of Dartmoor, Thornbridge Manor leaves a lot of windows open. When strolling through the front door poses a challenge, walking the perimeter of the building might provide a chance for Agent 47 to show off his climbing skills.

Drain pipes act as ladders while ledges let you pass locked rooms as long as there’s a window for Agent 47 to jump through. These can also provide quick escapes if someone comes wandering into a room you’re investigating.
