Mass Effect is a sci-fi series that had the most diverse cast of characters. Not only were there many races, but many backgrounds, stories, and personalities written for each character. Every fan had their favorites, least favorites, and sometimes even ones that they felt a little complicated about.

With this assortment of characters, it is easy to label them into different groups. One such method is through the Harry Potter Houses: Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. While the franchises are entirely different from one another, the House system can be applied to any and all characters. So here are ten Mass Effect characters sorted into Hogwarts’ Houses.

10 Liara - Ravenclaw

While Liara can get a little ambitious like a Slytherin, she is a Ravenclaw most of all. She cares about knowledge and study. In the third game, she even goes as far as to make an A.I. that can tell their story if they fail to save the galaxy. That is probably the most Ravenclaw action of all, to preserve knowledge for the future under any circumstance.

9 Ashley - Gryffindor

While Ashley can be somewhat unapologetic, ambitious, and shrewd, she is a Gryffindor most of all. This is shown in how she can sacrifice herself to save others in the first game. It that that action that ultimately sets her on the side of Gryffindor for courage.

8 Miranda- Slytherin

Miranda is a Slytherin for a number of reasons. She is cold, calculating, as well as fiercely protective of her sister (which we see a lot of in her loyalty mission). She is not afraid to disobey authority and does not back down. She is also not afraid to keep secrets from others as well as dig into people’s backgrounds in order to make sure she is one step ahead of them.

7 Kaiden - Gryffindor

Kaiden is a Gryffindor for a lot of the same reasons as Ashley. While they have pretty different personalities, their actions are often the same. Like Ashley, Kaiden is also willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

If he wasn’t a Gryffindor, a Hufflepuff is a good second since he is also quite compassionate. He stood up to a instructor who broke Rahna’s arm, which is not something everyone would have the courage to do.

6 Joker - Hufflepuff

The Mass Effect fandom is actually pretty split about where Joker fits in terms of the Hogwarts House system. Some say Ravenclaw because he is a talented pilot. Others say Gryffindor due to his bravery. Others  say Hufflepuff due to his loyalty.

Hufflepuff seems to fit Joker the most. His loyalty is one of his most defining features in the series. He also is one of those characters who lightens the mood, and Hufflepuffs are known for their light and friendly demeanors.

5 Jack - Slytherin

Jack is definitely a proud Slytherin. She does not let anybody push her around. When she is calm enough, she is quite smart-minded.

In the third game, she shows a very Slytherin personality when it comes to her students. She is quite protective of them.

4 Garrus - Gryffindor

Garrus is a classic Gryffindor. He has leadership skills and plenty of courage. You especially see a lot of the Gryffindor in his romance, as he is quite chivalrous. He likes the idea of being a hero and would not mind making a flashy sacrifice in order to do it.

He bravery is certainly shown in his Arc Angel role, when he gets all the criminal gangs angry enough to work together to kill him. He is brave enough to face all of the criminal organizations down at once while still having a bit of a laugh.

3 Tali - Ravenclaw

Tali is a Ravenclaw because, like Liara, she values knowledge. She is not afraid to experiment and is not afraid to even poke at what others would consider dangerous in order to learn something new.

Besides her intelligence, she is quite the individual among her community. Individuality is a big trait among Ravenclaws. You see a lot of this trait when you have to defend her in court from other Quarians who have demonized her quest for knowledge.

2 Samara - Gryffindor

Samara has a lot of nerve and determination, which makes her a Gryffindor. She holds herself to a strict code, and that is not easy. In fact, she is hunting down one of her own daughters. She has pursued her for centuries. If that is not the biggest form of nerve and determination, then what is?

She is also seeking atonement for previous mistakes, which clues into the chivalry aspect of a Gryffindor. Chivalry is about following a moralistic code.

1 Kasumi - Ravenclaw

Kasumi is a skilled thief which takes no shortage of wit, intelligence, creativity, and thinking for oneself. This is what makes her a Ravenclaw. She goes against the common standard, pitting herself against some of the richest people in the galaxy and succeeding due to her talents.
