MicroMan is an upcoming game where you play as a teeny tiny lab worker who flies on the backs of butterflies.

Is “accidentally shrunk down to the size of an ant” going to be a new game genre? No sooner do we get our first look at Grounded, a game that literally takes the plot of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids and turns it into a multiplayer survival game, than we get MicroMan, a game that shrinks an unfortunate lab worker down to the size of an insect.

But where Grounded seems to have a multiplayer focus, MicroMan is going to be a single-player experience for next-gen consoles and PC.

From the game’s trailer, we find out that you really shouldn’t go into strange capsules in high-tech laboratories. After being shrunk down, our nameless lab tech has to arm himself with a fork in order to beat back the onrushing hordes of frogs, ants, rats, and hedgehogs, all of which are surprisingly hungry for miniature human flesh.

In addition to having a fork, you’ll also be able to parachute on leaves, fly on the back of a monarch butterfly, and ride on a skateboard in much the same way you would as a regular-sized human. Maybe it’s a mini skateboard–the trailer isn’t too clear on this point.

Warsaw-based Glob Games mentions that there will be nonlinear gameplay elements and decisions the player makes will change your journey in unexpected ways.

MicroMan is tentatively scheduled to arrive in 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Check out their Twitter for more updates.
