In Horizon Zero Dawn there are five Hunting Grounds. At these hunting grounds, you can test your skills with specific pieces of weaponry or test your own tactical thinking. Each Hunting Ground focuses on a specific area of skills and Valleymeet focuses on elemental weaponry.
The Keeper of this Hunting Ground is incredibly rude to Aloy, so it becomes all the more satisfying when you get a Blazing Sun and he has to eat his words. We walk you through how to easily get all three of the Blazing Sun Rewards, the highest reward for Hunting Grounds, for Valleymeet.
TIP: Before you start any of these trials you need to make sure you have enough resources to stock up your ammo and that you have the correct weaponry.
How To Get The Blazing Sun For The Fire Fight Trial
What You Need To Do
- You need to use fire arrows to shoot off the blaze canisters on the back of Striders. If done correctly, this will cause an explosion that damages the machine and any machines around it. You need to damage four machines with this explosion.
The Time You Have
- 40 seconds or less
The Equipment You’ll Need
- Any Bow that has Fire Arrows.
TIP: If you can double or triple load your arrows, this will be a much easier trial.
How To Complete The Fire Fight Trial
At this Hunting Ground, there are two ropes. Go to the rope to the left of the cliff.
Look down from here and use your focus to highlight the Strider herd.
- When doing this trial, always target the Strider herd.
Striders on their own will work but it is faster to aim for ones near a lot of machines.
The main herd can usually be found to the left of the rope as you slide down.
When you are down there use your focus to highlight the Striders and this will highlight the Blaze canister on their rear.
- This is what you are aiming for.
You must be precise in this trial. When you are aiming, use R3 to concentrate as this will steady your aim.
Try to target the Strider in the middle of the herd. When they explode there will be a better chance of them taking the others down.
Once the Blaze canister is lit by one arrow, it can take two or three more hits for it to explode.
Tip: If you don’t manage to take down enough with one explosion, there are plenty of them around so repeat the steps quickly.
How To Get The Blazing Sun For The Freeze Trial
Use Freeze arrows to freeze five machines and destroy them whilst they are frozen.
90 seconds or less
Any Bow that has Freeze arrows and any Bow that has Hardpoint arrows. (You can use Hunter arrows but Hardpoint arrows do more damage)
For this trial, hunting Striders is the best option as they require fewer hits to become frozen.
How To Complete The Freeze Trial
When you are at the top of the cliff, go down the rope on the left-hand side.
This will land you in tall grass where you can stay hidden whilst crouching.
Use your focus to highlight and tag the striders. You need to tag five.
When you have tagged them, fire at them with the Freeze arrows.
After a couple of hits, the machine will succumb to the element and freeze.
Whilst they are frozen, quickly switch to a Hunter or a Hardpoint arrow (this will make it easier) and fire at the Strider. It should go down easily.
Once your first Strider is down, look around for the small white arrows that indicate where your targets are and run to them.
Repeat the steps and you will have taken five down in no time.
Tip: It is best to avoid the Bellowbacks as they take a lot of arrows to freeze and in a time-sensitive trial, this can be a problem.
How To Get The Blazing Sun For The Shock Trial
- Use Shock arrows to stun Bellowbacks. Whilst they are stunned you need to shoot off three of the canisters from underneath the machine.
The Time You Have To Complete It
60 Seconds or less
Any Bow that has Shock arrows and any Bow that has Hardpoint arrows. You can use normal hunting arrows but Hardpoints do more damage.
TIP: If you can double or triple load your bow it will make this trial easier.
How To Complete The Shock Trial
Start at the rope on the left-hand side at the top of the cliff. From here it will be easy to spot a Bellowback.
Use your focus to target one of them then head down the rope to begin the trial.
Load your bow with Shock arrows and repeatedly fire at the Bellowback.
Eventually, it will succumb to the element and be stunned.
Whilst it is stunned it cannot move and will lay down on the ground. When it is laying down quickly use your focus to scan it.
This will highlight areas of the Bellowback including the canisters on its belly that you need to hit.
Switch to your Hardpoint or Hunter Arrows.
Stand at the tail of the machine and aim your arrow to hit the area on its underside where the tail joins to the body.
This will release a panel and the canisters will lower.
Rapid-fire arrows at them to take out all three.
NOTE: If you do not take them out when the Bellowback is stunned you will have to find the second Bellowback in the area and repeat the steps on that one.
You can only complete this trial by removing the canisters whilst they are stunned, if you do it any other time it will not count.
Once you have completed this trial you can stay to fight the Bellowback or run for it. They’re pretty grumpy after being attacked.
If you have followed these steps you will have all three of the Blazing Sun rewards for this Hunting Ground.
