Next week, Destiny 2 will bring back the Crimson Days event that celebrates the Valentine’s Day holiday with a unique Crucible mode and themed rewards. However, with this being the second iteration for Crimson Days in Destiny 2, there are a few new wrinkles this time around.

In a new blog post, Destiny 2 developer Bungie details how things are changing for Crimson Days in Year 2. Specifically, the event is drawing a page from the Festival of the Lost by allowing players to earn currency and buy items directly.

Crimson Days Bounties & Confectionary Hearts

Shaxx is the main vendor for Crimson Days and he will offer players four daily bounties and one weekly bounty (complete a Nightfall with your partner) that feature both PvP and PvE objectives. Completing these bounties will reward Confectionary Hearts, which can be used to buy some new Crimson Day items and some returning ones.

  • Tirastrella Legendary Ghost Shell – 25 Hearts Undeterred Exotic Sparrow – 50 Hearts The Vow Legendary Bow (650 power level) – 100 Hearts Wardcliff Coil Ornament - 125 Hearts Flaunting Dance Legendary Emote – 150 Hearts Warmhearted Gift Package (cores, mods, weapons, etc.) – 15 Hearts

In addition to the bounties, players can earn Confectionary Hearts by completing Crimson Doubles matches. A win will give players 7 Hearts whereas a loss will give 5 Hearts. Like before, Crimson Doubles is an elimination-based mode where staying nearby your partner will boost ability recharge rate.

Crimson Doubles

Much like with Festival of the Lost, the Crimson Doubles gameplay loop consists of completing bounties or Crimson Doubles matches to collect Confectionary Hearts, and then spending those Hearts on various items from Shaxx. Given that the event only runs for a week, players might have their work cut out for them if they want to collect everything, but that weekly bounty apparently offers 75 Hearts so it’s a good place to start.

Additionally, Destiny 2 players will earn Crimson Engrams alongside their Bright Engrams at every level up, but the Eververse items have not changed. It’s an opportunity for those that missed Crimson Days in Year 1 to catch up, or for veteran players to complete their collection. There will also be two Eververse bundles for players to purchase an ornament for the bow or a tiny bow emote. Presumably, these items will not be part of the Crimson Engrams.

And finally, if players complete all of the Triumphs tied to Crimson Days they will unlock the Sugary Ghost Shell, which looks like it is made from chocolate.

Destiny 2: Crimson Days runs from February 12th to the 19th at reset.
