Upon releasing VALORANT’s beta, Riot Games knew that its debut multiplayer FPS would be up against some tough competition. A successful multiplayer game—be it a Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, or another one of the numerous popular titles in the genre—ultimately requires a following of dedicated players, many of whom will continue to play and improve at the game for a number of years. To help attract these worthwhile fans, Riot incorporated some wholly unique features in VALORANT’s beta. Among these is a secret parkour course within its practice arena.
Finding the Secret Course
In order to find VALORANT’s secret parkour challenge, enter the practice arena by clicking on “Practice” in the upper right-hand corner of the main screen. Of the different practice arena options, select “Open Range.” All of the sections of the practice arena are connected, so the parkour course can technically be accessed after selecting any of the four available options, but the start of the course is closest to the spawn point here.
Once you’ve entered into the level, turn 45 degrees to the left and round the corner ahead to exit the small building you start out in. Then immediately turn right through a shattered archway. Proceed forward past a series of benches and hedges until you reach a small staircase leading up to a narrow walkway, above which is blue and yellow graffiti. This signifies the start of the parkour course.
Completing the Parkour Challenge
After heading up those stairs and onto the ledge, the words “Course Started” will appear on screen. Technically the course can be initiated by navigating to other sections throughout it, triggering the same words to appear on screen, but the top of the staircase is the consensus starting point.
From there, navigating the course requires landing precise jumps onto a series of small platforms and ledges. If you’re unsure of where to go next, blue footprints and handprints indicate the next intended platform—though you don’t always have to follow that route. Once you’ve successfully made some forward progress, the game will indicate that you’ve reached a checkpoint. Dying will then respawn you at your most recent checkpoint rather than the entrance to the practice arena.
While the course can be completed by any agent, Jett is most easily capable of finishing it thanks to her reusable jump ability and passive slow fall skill. Navigating the course with Jett still requires precision landing, but her Updraft ability can be used to correct mistakes. Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the route, attempt the course with other heroes for a considerably harder challenge.
