Nintendo recently announced some new Mario titles to help celebrate the turtle-stomping plumber’s 35th anniversary. We’ll soon have access to some of Mario’s best 3D games in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection - except for Super Mario Galaxy 2 because apparently, that game doesn’t exist - along with a re-release of Super Mario 3D World and the bizarre, Tetris 99-inspired Super Mario Bros. 35.
But while video games are nice and all, gaming anniversaries are nothing without some sweet, official merchandise. That’s why Nintendo is also giving out celebratory physical pins that feature artwork from Super Mario Bros 1 through 3, Super Mario World, and Super Mario 64. In typical Nintendo fashion, it isn’t as simple to acquire these pins as you might think. So that’s why we’ve made this handy little guide to help you get your mitts on these limited-time collectibles.
Here’s Your Mission
To get these pins you need to complete six missions from the Super Mario 35th Anniversary website.
Sign in to your My Nintendo account and you should be able to find them under a section called My Nintendo Missions.
They’re pretty simple for the most part with objectives like visiting the Super Mario website, taking a Mario quiz, downloading a Mario picture, and listening to some classic music through the Super Mario Music Player (which doesn’t have the Gusty Garden Galaxy track so it’s trash.)
One of the missions involves participating in a special event for Super Mario Kart Tour, which means if you’re dead set on having these pins you’re going to have to download that onto your phone. The final mission is the most expensive as it requires you to buy Super Mario 3D All-Stars in either digital or physical form and claiming the My Nintendo Gold Points that come with it.
Once you’ve completed the list you’ll be eligible to receive the pin set. However, since Nintendo loves to cruelly toy with its fans, they’ll only be available until March 31, 2021. On top of that, there’s a very limited supply. So you might want to preorder Super Mario 3D All-Stars to get ahead of the crowd.
Jump On This Offer While You Can
This set is bound to be a popular item for diehard Nintendo fans. If the opportunity to own a pin of Mario angrily throwing a turnip sounds too good to pass up, then it would probably be a good idea to get started on these missions right away.
