Here’s where to get the Trinity Ghoul Catalyst in Destiny 2’s Season of Arrivals.

Season of Arrivals has… well, arrived. And with it comes a bunch of new loot. The Exotic grenade launcher Witherhoard comes as part of the season pass, but older Exotics are getting a bit of a refresh too.

One of those is Trinity Ghoul, an Exotic bow added in Forsaken. Trinity Ghoul has been sort of forgotten since Forsaken came out as it’s not exactly the most powerful bow, even among Legendary options.

Trinity Ghoul’s Exotic perks are great in theory but less great in practice. Split Electron causes the bolt to split into three after a short distance, but this is less useful than it might appear. The spread on these shots makes it impossible to reliably hit targets at medium to long-range, which is where bows should be most effective. Since Trinity Ghoul can be hard to land precision kills, the other Exotic perk, Lightning Rod, doesn’t proc often enough to be useful.

That all changes once you get Trinity Ghoul’s new Exotic Catalyst installed. Here’s where to get it and what it does.

Where To Find The Trinity Ghoul Catalyst

You can get the Trinity Ghoul Catalyst from any playlist activity; that’s Strikes, Crucible matches, or Gambit. The drop rate seems to be extremely high, so you won’t have to wait long to get this Catalyst. I got mine after four Strikes, but I’ve seen others get it in as little as one or two.

What The Trinity Ghoul Catalyst Does

Trinity Ghoul’s new Catalyst changes the Lighting Rod perk so that it procs after any Arc final blow. This totally changes how Trinity Ghoul operates, turning it into an ad-clearing machine.

Since Trinity Ghoul already deals arc damage, this means whenever you get a kill with Trinity Ghoul, you’ll proc Lightning Rod. But it’s not just Trinity Ghoul that can proc the perk. Kills with Arc-based abilities will also proc Lightning Rod, and even firing a slow-moving rocket or grenade launcher and then swapping back to Trinity Ghoul before the kill will also proc Lightning Rod.

Once Lightning Rod is procced, it turns into a terrifying ad-killer. Shoot the ground in front of a mob and all three shots will home in on the nearest enemy. This makes it great for killing mooks in record time, and even good enough to kill some major enemies too.

On top of that, the Catalyst also reduces Trinity Ghoul’s draw time from 756 to 648, which is a massive overall increase in fire rate. Try this out and you won’t be disappointed.
