The biggest appeal in VALORANT is the diverse cast of agents each with their own unique abilities. When put on a team, each agent as a role to play and their utility is a key component to that role. There are a variety of agents for any type of playstyle but not every agent is available at the beginning of the game as players unlock agents as they progress. Let’s take a look at how to unlock all the agents available in VALORANT.
There are five available agents to play with as a beginner. These are Jett, Brimstone, Sage, Phoenix and Sova. This leaves six available agents players will need to unlock. The act of actually unlocking characters is fairly straight forward. Just head over to the “Collection” tab and then to the “Agent” tab. Agents can be unlocked my activating their Agent Contract which hovers under them as they are selected. Activating agents requires players to reach certain tiers, or levels, to have the opportunity to unlock another character.
To reach new tiers and unlock agents, players need to earn experience points. Experience points are earned in each match depending on how many rounds the game goes as well as how many rounds were won will determine how many points a player gets. 100 points is awarded for each round while 200 extra is awarded for winning a round. The more you win the easier it will be to get points. This is still a long, arduous process that will take a significant amount of grinding. There are side missions to earn extra points but that’s about it.
For those who don’t necessarily enjoy the grind of unlocking every character through playing, players can purchase 1,000 Creds to unlock an agent. This translates to roughly $10 but if the money is available, it might be worth it to get all the agents as soon as possible.
VALORANT agents come with a ton of game-defining, cool abilities. Even though not all of them are unlocked at the start, it’s possible to get them through dedicated grinding… or even some hard-earned cash.
