Here’s how you can get at those Black Armory Forges as a New Light Destiny 2 player.
The Black Armory used to be end-game content back when it released in 2018, but now it’s available to all who think they’ve got what it takes. But before you can access the Black Armory Forges, you’ll need to complete the New Light questline until you get to speak to Ada-1, the curator of the Black Armory. In this guide, we’ll go over how to have a conversation with Ada and what you’ll need to do in order to unlock the forges.
New Light Unlock Forges Quest
As a New Light player, you won’t be able to access the Black Armory Forges right away. First, you’ll need to progress your New Light Quest until you’ve talked to most of the NPCs and planetary vendors found in Destiny 2. Then, you’ll need to reach Power Level 810, at which point you’ll be tasked with speaking to The Drifter who will then introduce you to Ada-1, the slightly cantankerous caretaker of the famous Black Armory.
Ada-1 will get your Black Armory quest started with a Black Armory Machine Gun Frame. This is essentially another quest that will sit in your quest log until you fulfill the requirements. First, you’ll need to get a weapon core from a Stolen Black Armory crate in either Outskirts or The Gulch in the EDZ. After that, you’ll need to collect 25 Compound Ether, which you can get from killing Fallen enemies.
After that, you’ll need 25 Radiant Shards which you get from killing “powerful enemies.” Any non-red bar enemies are powerful, so you’ll get those kills naturally just playing the game, but you can go do Lost Sectors, Strikes, or Sorrows Harbor to get those kills a bit faster.
Unlock Forges Destiny 2 2020
After you’ve finished getting those 25 Radian Shards, head back to The Tower to speak with Ada-1. She’ll hand you a new Radian Machine Gun Frame which can be turned into the Legendary Hammerhead Machine Gun after completing a Forge Ignition. This will also unlock Black Armory Forges and Aad-1’s inventory of bounties, weapon frames, and Exotic quests for Jotunn, Le Monarque, and Izanagi’s Burden.
There are four Black Armory forges that change each day in the EDZ. You can enter the daily forge from the Black Armory icon on the EDZ map. They’re all essentially the same but with different enemies to defeat depending on which forge you embark on. Once you’ve completed the Forge Ignition, you can return to Ada-1 for your brand new Hammerhead.
