Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order allows players to fulfill their Jedi fantasies by playing as Cal Kestis, a Jedi whose connection with the Force has been shattered due to his traumatic past. Throughout the game, Cal will relive his training during the Clone Wars with his former master, Jaro Tapal.
In the flashbacks, you will learn Jedi abilities with Cal, such as wall-running, Force Push, and Force Slow. One of the more helpful powers in the game is the double jump. However, this cannot be unlocked until further in the story, so you will have to be patient before getting this crucial ability.
Updated June 13, 2022, By Ben Jessey: The Jedi: Fallen Order sequel has finally been announced. It is called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and serves as a continuation of Cal Kestis’ story. Therefore, those who still haven’t finished Fallen Order might be jumping back into the game to beat it to get ready for the new title.
However, if you do, you may notice that Cal can’t leap as high as the average Jedi. This is because he’s still re-learning all of his force abilities. When you get far enough into the game, your jumping skills will increase when you gain the ability to double jump. Here’s how to acquire the move.
When You Unlock Double Jump
You don’t have to worry about missing the chance to unlock double jump (or Jedi Flip as the game calls it) since you acquire it during the main story. To be more specific, you get the ability in the fourth chapter when you make your second visit to the Wookie homeworld, Kashyyyk. You’ll go there after you get a message about a possible meeting with Chieftain Tarfful.
When you get to the planet, you won’t immediately be about to double jump. You first have to play through about two-thirds of the chapter, which involves traversing Kashyyk’s wilderness and coming face-to-face with the Ninth Sister. Eventually, though, you get to a point where you have to jump across some Lung Plants. And while you’re bouncing on them, suddenly, a flashback will trigger.
Complete The Flashback
The flashback depicts another Jaro Tapal training session. This one is about the Jedi Flip. The Jedi Master wants you to reach his position by jumping across a few platforms. And to do that, you need to use the double jump ability.
It works the same in this game as it does in pretty much every other title that includes the ability. You simply jump once, and then when you’re in the air, hit the jump button again. In the session with Tapal, you only have to utilize the move to get across three gaps before you’re immediately brought back to Kashyyyk. Once that happens, you have the power to double jump whenever and wherever you want.
Where To Use The Double Jump
The Jedi Flip is mainly used for platforming and rarely used during combat. The only times double jump can be used during combat is when the player is running away to a higher platform or to double jump into a Force Repulse.
While the abilities’ combat opportunities are limited, its main purpose is for exploration. After all, when you double jump, you leap higher and further. So, you can access areas you previously couldn’t reach, such as the top of the Origin Tree, the Nightmare ruins and the Tomb of Kujet on Dathomir, the Venator on Zeffo, and more.
