How to send audio messages with Google Assistant

You can send audio messages with Google Assistant through SMS, messaging apps, or your watch. But, first, you need a few things.

For your Android phone or device:

  • Google Assistant enabled.The ability to send messages through SMS or a messaging app.

For your Wear OS watch:

  • Google Assistant enabled.Signed into a messaging app paired Android device.

  • On your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold the sleep/wake button or say “OK Google.“Say a command:“Send an audio message to [contact name]."“Send a WhatsApp audio message to [contact name].“Send an audio message.”

  • “Send an audio message to [contact name]."“Send a WhatsApp audio message to [contact name].“Send an audio message.”

Send a message with your watch

Where are Google Assistant audio messages available?

You can ask Google Assistant to send messages from your watch with LINE, Nextplus, Telegram, Threema, Viber, VK, or WhatsApp.

To send an audio message, follow these steps:

  • On your watch, press and hold the power button or say “Ok Google.“Say a command:“Send a WhatsApp message to Nathan.”“Send a Telegram message to Hannah: ‘I’m on my way.’”“Send a Viber message.”

  • “Send a WhatsApp message to Nathan.”“Send a Telegram message to Hannah: ‘I’m on my way.’”“Send a Viber message.”
