Humble Bundle has reversed its unpopular decision to remove charity sliders after widespread backlash.

You may recall last month that Humble Bundle rolled out some changes which saw the removal of three sliders that allowed customers to choose where their money went; the publisher, charity, or the company itself. Instead, Humble quietly implemented toggles which resulted in charitable donations being capped to just 15 percent. Understandably, fans of the service were quite upset, resulting in a backlash which has forced Humble to apologize and reverse its decision to remove the sliders.

In an update on Humble Bundle’s official blog (via PCGamer), the company apologizes for the secrecy of the changes, explaining that it’s committed to getting feedback from the community before any massive changes and promises that Humble is “just as committed to supporting charity as we were when we launched.”

However, it looks like changes are still a possibility as Humble doesn’t rule out the removal of sliders in the future:

“Today, we’ll be turning sliders back on for all customers on our bundle pages while we take more time to review feedback and consider sliders and the importance of customization for purchases on bundle pages in the long term.”

What those changes could be is anyone’s guess, but this recent controversy has definitely affected the company’s reputation. Humble Bundle was caught implementing changes that negatively affected charities without telling the majority of its customers, something which won’t simply be fixed by the company being transparent for a few months. Every decision Humble Bundle makes is now going to be put under a magnifying glass.

To end the blog post, Humble Bundle tells fans to be on the lookout for updates coming soon and thanks customers for their “candid feedback and continued support.” So whilst it does look like the company will be making changes in the near and distant future, at least it values customer feedback and we’ll have some say in how they’re implemented.
