Hypebae hosted their own fashion show in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to keep fashion alive.

Like everything else during the COVID-19 pandemic, fashion shows have completely stopped. You can’t have hundreds or even thousands of people getting together to gasp in wonder over the latest trends if it makes them all sick.

So what are labels and “global fashion platforms” to do? The answer is in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Hypebae recently fought back against the pandemic by hosting their very own fashion show in Animal Crossing. They gathered together some of the biggest names in the New Horizons fashion scene, such as Nook Street Market and Crossing The Runway, and combined them with big names in the fashion business like Bodega, Esther Ng, and Tina Leung–all of whom just so happen to be big Animal Crossing fans.

Next, they customized an island to have it’s very own outdoor runway, complete with cameras, spotlights, ground lighting, and even a picturesque dual waterfall to surround the models as they walk the catwalk. You can even see a dressing area with clothing stands behind the far wall.

Looks included Jean Paul Gaultier Fall/Winter 95, where Nook Street Market owner Mixu strutted their stuff in a custom outfit, as well as streetwear brand Bodega repping their own custom merchandise.

The whole thing was broadcast live on YouTube, where you can now see a recording of the roughly 30-minute event.

Hypebae isn’t the only fashion label to take to Animal Crossing. Labels like Marc Jacobs, Sandy Liang, and Maison Valentino also took their latest trends online to show them off in New Horizons after the year’s fashion shows were all cancelled, starting with the Met Gala earlier this month.

You can head on over to their various Instagram accounts to grab QR codes and deck out your New Horizons avatar. Because if you can’t be fashionable in the real world you should at least look good in Animal Crossing.
