Nintendo held a surprise Direct Mini this morning, and one of the biggest announcements revealed that a Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo is now available on the Switch eShop. The full game is set to release on November 20, but you’ll now get to try out the muso action firsthand before deciding if it’s worthy of your cash.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity’s demo will let you play through the entirety of the first chapter. There’s no indication to how long that will take you, but it’s bound to be enough to give you a taste of the action and suck you back into the wonderful world of Hyrule. Any progress you make during the demo will transfer over to the full game if you decide to make a purchase.
To go along with the demo is a new trailer. It shows off the devastating power of the Divine Beasts – which you can operate during gameplay – along with the sheer scale of Age of Calamity’s maps. You can check out the destructive action below:
Rumors were swirling yesterday that an Age of Calamity demo would be hitting the eShop sometime in the next couple weeks – but no one saw it launching this soon. Nintendo’s Korean website spilled the beans a day early, revealing both the demo and trailer ahead of the Direct Mini. The page was quickly removed, yet some Twitter users still managed to grab screenshots and translate them for a wider audience.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a prequel to Breath of the Wild, showing off Hyrule before it was destroyed by Calamity Ganon. It’ll play nothing like Breath of the Wild, however, instead following in the footsteps of the original Hyrule Warriors – a muso title not unlike Dynasty Warriors. You’ll fend off hundreds of foes as you take control of Link, Princess Zelda, Daruk, and Urbosa, among others.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release for Nintendo Switch on November 20. A demo is now available on the Switch eShop, with all progress carrying over to the full game.
