Monster Hunter World introduced a rather clever way for players to keep engaging with its content. Instead of simply throwing greater numbers at hunters, tougher variants of creatures exist that require better gear. These are referred to as Tempered and Arch-Tempered, with the latter being the toughest challenge available.
With Iceborne now being half a year old, obviously some of its unique monsters needed to get the Arch-Tempered treatment. That’s where the latest update comes in, adding a different variant of late-game beast Namielle. Dubbed the rainbow dragon by fans, this version looks to be suitably ridiculous from the short trailer we have.
If that wasn’t enough, update 13.5 also welcomes a Master Rank version of siege monster Kulve Taroth. Normally requiring players to track it in stages, this iteration will be contained in a single quest that has players kill the beast. That’s certainly more convenient than waiting for an event.
For your troubles, both new variants will have exclusive armor you can craft after gathering the proper materials. As with past updates, these will probably become the best pieces of gear in the game until Alatreon lands. Once that dragon is in town, everyone will be shuffling to get his equipment.
