If you loved Doom 3 and are feeling the nostalgic itch to experience a fresh dose of something similar, TeamKill Media’s upcoming Quantum Error will almost certainly do the trick.

According to some of its developers - Dakoda Jones and Micah Jones - this first-person “cosmic horror” shooter will apparently bear many similarities to Dead Space and the classic Doom 3. This includes its general atmosphere of dark, eerie, spacey terror, as well as its gameplay.

For those who are tired of the same old jumpscare tropes, you’ll be pleased to know the devs have opted for a different approach to horror:

Of course, as its primary gameplay is that of a shooter, Quantum Error will also emphasize action and puzzles too against this backdrop of eeriness. It will reportedly be “a slower-paced FPS trickled with a variety of mechanics that revolve around the main character’s skills as a firefighter.”

“…when it comes to building the horror aspect of the game it will be done in a way that promotes atmosphere over anything scripted. No jump scares or anything cheap like that. The game’s entire atmosphere will be the embodiment of eerie.”

Quantum Error is set to make its debut on both PS4 and PS5, although we still don’t have a confirmed release date at this time.
