IGN has revealed their predictions for what will come out first on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
We are fast approaching the arrival of the next-gen console wars, and while the questions of hardware have mostly been settled (barring the actual appearance of the PS5, at least) the question surrounding launch titles still remains.
To help us get a handle on what might be coming with the arrival of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, IGN hosted a roundtable discussion to see which games are likely to arrive first on next-gen consoles.
For the Xbox Series X, Halo Infinite is the clear winner. The hotly anticipated sequel to Halo 5 is expected to release sometime later this year on the Xbox One first, but after that, it’s widely believed to arrive with the Xbox Series X.
A new Forza game is also expected for the XSX, although there is some debate as to whether it will be Motorsport 8 or Horizon 5.
The PlayStation 5’s launch lineup remains as shrouded in mystery as its appearance, but there are a few expected launch titles. The Last Of Us Part II will hit the PS4 later in May, but a port is widely expected to arrive on the PS5 later this year. Ghost of Tsushima is likewise coming later in the summer but could easily be ported to PS5 in the winter.
Sequels to God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Spider-Man are also speculated at but still unconfirmed.
And what about both? Could we see a new Madden or FIFA arrive for next-gen consoles even if their respective leagues have shut down due to COVID-19? We’ll find out this winter when Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 arrive on store shelves.
