Players have discovered a glitch in Call of Duty: Warzone that affects the Riot Shield. While some fans say that the controversial item should be left bugged to discourage its use, Infinity Ward has announced that they are currently working to fix the problem.

The Riot Shield has been controversial in Call of Duty: Warzone due to the negative play styles the shield encourages. While using this item, players can block massive amounts of damage and can even keep normally lethal damage from killing players that have the Riot Shield equipped. However, a glitch is currently keeping this item from doing what it was designed to do.

A Call of Duty player took to Twitter to draw attention to this glitch. When an opponent shot at them, the damage should have been absorbed by the shield, but the shield doesn’t seem to protect at all. The killcam shows the player did not have the Riot Shield equipped, though viewers could clearly see that the shield was equipped from the player’s perspective. Since the player was technically using the shield, they were unable to quickly pull out a weapon to defend themself, which was even worse than entering combat scenarios free handed.

Joe Cecot, one of the design directors working on the Call of Duty game, replied to the initial Tweet saying that the team at Infinity Ward will be looking into the issue. While a few people on the Twitter thread joked that the developer should leave the glitch in the game to deter players from using the Riot Shield, many have thanked Cecot and Infinity Ward for responding quickly to this issue.

Since this is such a game-breaking problem, Infinity Ward will likely be trying to fix this with a quick patch in the near future, which may come alongside the Grau nerf the developer already announced.

While this is far from the first bug discovered since Season 4 for Call of Duty was released, Infinity Ward is trying to keep on top of these issues. With such quick responses to Tweets displaying these problems, fans feel like their concerns in these regards are being heard.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
