With Joker’s inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11, fans’ appetite for an Injustice 2 has only grown larger. NetherRealm’s acclaimed Injustice series has allowed the DC universe to reach a potential that it hasn’t been able to reach anywhere outside its legendary comic book series and some good cartoons (and a few movies).

We’ve experienced incredible storylines like the corruption of Superman, the death of Lex Luthor and the cosmic threat of Brainiac. Gameplay-wise, Injustice has rivaled if not led the way as one of the best fighters out there; it’s a reason we’re so excited.

15 Fingers Crossed: Martian Manhunter

One of the many casualties in Superman’s rise to power, Martian Manhunter has only made an appearance in the Injustice games as a DLC fighter in the first game. In the comics he was killed off early but the time has come for his return.

With powers on the level of Superman and then some, Manhunter has a ton of options in terms of his moveset. His density manipulation, telepathy and a bevy of other powers can make him an awesome character to play as once again.

14 Cut: Atrocitus

While Atrocitus was a favorite choice of players in the early days of Injustice 2, he isn’t quite the first person we have in mind for an inclusion in Injustice 3.

Not only was his inclusion in the game’s story mode minimal, but his moveset wasn’t all that creative or fun to play. This angry Red Lantern doesn’t need to be there for the next game.

13 Fingers Crossed: Beast Boy

Another character who is technically dead in the Injustice universe, Beast Boy is part of the Teen Titans who fell in the resistance against Superman. This is a comic book game however so Beast Boy’s shouldn’t be too hard to explain.

While Beast Boy’s role in the story would likely not be too important, his moveset would more than make up for it. Being able to transform into a ton of different animals imaginable on the fly? Sign us up.

12 Cut: Scarecrow

Batman has a ton of villains known for their prowess in combat, but Scarecrow is not one of them. Although he was voiced spectacularly by horror legend Robert Englund in Injustice 2, his role in the story lacked substance and was ultimately unnecessary.

While his moveset is fun to play with, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that he’s able to go toe to toe with many of DC’s greatest fighters with or without any strength-enhancing pills. We’re afraid there’s just no place for this doctor.

11 Fingers Crossed: Booster Gold

For those unfamiliar with Booster Gold, he can best be described as DC’s version of another Netherrealm Studios creation Johnny Cage. An arrogant jerk who nonetheless has a good heart and a ton of power to back it up, Booster Gold would be a great addition to Injustice 3.

Although he was killed like many other heroes in this timeline, the nature of his abilities make it pretty easy for him to slide in anyway. With his gadgets and technology, his moveset could easily be a combination of the Flash and Batman. No matter what, he deserves a place on the roster.

10 Cut: Deadshot

When it comes to badass assassins in the DC universe - who also start with the letter “D” - there are only two choices: Deadshot and Deathstroke. Unless Injustice becomes a Smash game and let’s the roster size run rampant, there’s only room for one of these guys.

Sure, Deadshot had the popularity of his inclusion in the 2016 film Suicide Squad, but that hype has run thin. Deathstroke, on the other hand, is much more interesting story-wise and move-wise. Granted we honestly wouldn’t care if both were left off the roster and replaced by a new face, but if we had to choose one to lose it’d be Deadshot.

9 Fingers Crossed: Plastic Man

Plastic Man has the opportunity to become DC’s Guardians of The Galaxy - as long as they don’t screw it up - here’s hoping. His comic was released in 1941, way before the time of other rubber-type heroes like Mr. Fantastic and Elastigirl, and way before comedy heroes like Deadpool.

Injustice is the perfect way to jump-start Plastic Man’s popularity and he’ll be an incredibly unique character on the roster. From a personality standpoint, he’ll also add a ton of variety as he seems to fit more with the lighthearted Marvel universe.  This could be Plastic Man’s decade and we don’t see how he won’t make the roster for Injustice 3.

8 Cut: Firestorm

Firestorm is a solid character when it comes to his moveset and his placement on the tier list.  That said, he’s painfully boring when it comes to his design and his source material. We just can’t see someone like firestorm taking the place of characters that bring much more to the table, like Plastic Man!

If he stayed it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world as we’re happy he comes from his own series. And he’s a pretty easy character to pick up compared to the rest of the cast, which gives him bonus points. So he isn’t our first pick to leave, but we wouldn’t be bummed if he left.

7 Fingers Crossed: Huntress

The Huntress is basically a shoo-in with the mildly successful Birds of Prey film. But in case you missed that, Huntress is a vigilante from Gotham City who in a way is DC’s version of the Punisher. Sometimes she’s a hero, sometimes she takes things to far, that is until she changes for good and joins the Justice League.

With a roster that is somewhat lacking in female representation, she’s one of the top options right now. She probably will end up bumping off another female character to make the roster, but we wouldn’t mind as Huntress is pretty unique compared to the current cast.

6 Cut: Gorilla Grood

Gorilla Grood on paper is an excellent addition to the roster of Injustice. If there’s one way to throw a wrench into a cast of classic superheroes and villains, you do it with a giant gorilla. The problem with Grood is that he’s one of the worst characters in the game and is no fun to play.

If a casual fighting game fan can’t make heads or tails of a character like Grood than there really isn’t much hope for him. Obviously, if the moveset of Grood was improved he could actually be a solid character, but for now, we’re rooting for another animal…

5 Fingers Crossed: Killer Croc

There’s just no way that we can go three Injustice games without having Killer Croc make the roster. While Bane, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy may come to mind first, it’s high time that Croc makes the cut.

He has a brief cameo in Injustice 2 as a stage hazard in the Batcave stage and he’s on the roster in the Injustice Mobile game, but that’s not nearly enough. He’s one of Batman’s greatest foes and deserves a spot now more than ever.

4 Cut: Cheetah

We might as well close out all this talk about animals with another flop, Cheetah. It’s obvious that Cheetah hits a few marks when it comes to the roster, she’s a female and Wonder Woman character, both of which are underrepresented. Plus she’s just a weirdly unique character that breaks up the mold of the stereotypical heroes and villains.

What makes it easy for us to ditch Cheetah is the fact that she’s one of the bottom tier characters on the roster. Her moves are nothing interesting and she added little-to-no depth to the story. Hopefully, she gets cut quickly and replaced by someone far more deserving.

3 Cut: Zatanna

Zatanna was the sixth and final DLC character added to Injustice: Gods Among Us, but besides a brief cameo in Injustice 2’s story, she missed out on the sequel almost entirely.  While it was disappointing to see her miss out in the second game, we understand NetherRealm’s decision as they love to keep fans on their toes when it comes to the roster.

But Zatanna is just too good a character to sit on the bench for another Injustice game. She isn’t married to one power and has many abilities up her sleeve, making her an overall great character to add.

2 Cut: Robin

While it’s easy to criticize and take out obscure characters like Cheetah and Firestorm, it’s time to get bold. Okay, Robin may be no Batman in terms of ability and certainly in terms of popularity, but his removal from the roster would be a big deal.

He’s still one of the most recognizable faces in the DC universe, even more so than the likes of Green Lantern, Super Girl and Flash. But hear us out, take out Robin and replace him with a new and improved Nightwing.

1 Fingers Crossed: Rorschach

Dr. Manhattan is the obvious pick if you’re a fan of the wildly influential series Watchmen. We even had him in this spot until we got to thinking… how on earth could NetherRealm Studios create a moveset for a guy that is more powerful than Superman?

Most of the time Dr. Manhattan waves his hand to defeat his enemies while rambling off about quantum physics or making plans about what he wants for dinner. So that leads us to Rorschach, a close combat fighting detective (much like someone else we know) who would be a perfect fit for the game - but we’d settle for Nite Owl too.
