PlayStation has addressed the length of Spider-Man: Miles Morales before. Brian Horton, the game’s creative director, specifically stated that the title would be about as long as Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which takes most players between 5 to 10 hours to complete. PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan then later reinforced Horton’s Miles Morales claim with his own unique statements.
Despite all of this, however, Spider-Man Miles Morales’ length is once again being brought into question. During a debate on Twitter, Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson interjected with a statement on behalf of Insomniac, saying, “We have not said any hour amount, on a high or low end.”
The individual Stevenson replied to has since deleted their tweet, but another Twitter user by the name of the Wooley Gamer summed up their message. Apparently, the Twitter user was insisting that Spider-Man: Miles Morales would be between 5 to 10 hours long, echoing Brian Horton’s statement that the game was akin to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Stevenson’s response to this user heavily contradicts Horton’s. It implies that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will not be the same length as Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, destroying the rough estimate fans had of the game, with its “on a high or low end” portion. Now fans are confused as to whether or not Spider-Man: Miles Morales even reaches the five-hour length.
In all fairness, though, James Stevenson is right. Insomniac has not come out and said exactly how long Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be. It only compared it to the length of another game. But by pointing this fact out, Stevenson has once again opened up the can of worms that is the question: “how long is Spider-Man: Miles Morales?
Either way, James Stevenson’s comment has left Spider-Man: Miles Morales in an uncertain area once again. Potential buyers still have no idea how much the game will cost, and now they have no idea how long it will be either. They can assume Insomniac Games will sell it at a discount price like Naughty Dog did Lost Legacy, but just like the game’s length, that’s only an assumption.
Although, if fans want to stay positive, they could imagine that the game will be longer than ten hours instead of less than five. Stevenson’s statement does mention a high-end, so maybe the game actually exceeds the length of Uncharted: The Lost legacy. And one way or another, both the Spider-Man: Miles Morales price and length will come out eventually.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is in development for PS5.
