An Insomniac Games community director has brought the gauntlet down upon a Twitter user who kept insisting that Spider-Man: Miles Morales was going to be between 5-10 hours long. The original tweet has since been removed by the user whose identity will now remain a mystery.
According to ‘LiquidTitan’ on Twitter, who managed to take a screenshot of the tweet, director James Stevenson’s response was rather final. Responding to one tweet, presumably regarding the estimated game-time, Stevenson curtly replied “We have not said any hour amount, on a low or high end." As Stevenson’s tweet was responding to a few users, it cannot be determined which account made the now-deleted post. His acknowledgement was met with confusion from followers of the altercation who claimed that Insomniac had already confirmed a rough idea of the game’s length.
According to various reports, Brian Horton, another community director at Insomniac Games, along with other developers confirmed that MM would be roughly the same length as Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. This statement was backed up with an estimation that pegged the main story in MM as 5-10 hours long. Stevenson’s response on Twitter is directly contradictory of Insomniac’s previous statement made last month. It’s misleading for fans to be told false information by the source, however, Stevenson’s response could have come from a place of frustration.
Developers don’t leave a good impression when they appear to be on a completely different page from each other. It also leaves some doubt amongst fans as to what type of game to expect from MM. Its rumored length seems to suggest that it will be the equivalent of an expansion, and Insomniac have confirmed that MM is a stand-alone title. It’s hard to say what we can expect after these discrepancies, but gamers have also been advised to stop speculating from the community.
Miles Morales is the successor to Marvel’s Spider-Man from 2018. Featured during State of Play last month, MM will follow the character of young Miles Morales who had a supporting role next to Peter Parker during the predecessor. In the comic Ultimate Fallout #4, Miles becomes Spider-Man after Peter’s death to fill the role of the friendly, neighbourhood saviour. Morales is the second Spider-Man to appear in the Ultimate Marvel series and was the protagonist in the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
