Following the reveal of the PS5 on Thursday, many are still reacting to all that was entailed in the presentation. Highlighted were the games demonstrated at the show, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which has been positively reacted to by many including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s director.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was one of the first games presented at the Future of Gaming showcase. Billed as an “expansion and enhancement” but standalone game in its own right, the title may be headlining some of the PS5’s biggest launch titles. More importantly, however, it largely received positive reactions by all for its action-packed clips and gorgeous next-gen graphics. Among those in approval of the game was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse director Peter Ramsey.

Ramsey, who directed 2018’s animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider: Verse, retweeted a post on Twitter with a gif that signaled his approval of the upcoming PS5 exclusive. Given his affiliation with Spider-Man and Miles Morales, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.

The tweet is actually a retweet from a post by fellow director Matthew A. Cherry, accompanied by a gif of someone clapping and giving an expression of impressed. It’s worth noting that Cherry’s initial tweet shows excitement for the upcoming Spider-Man game.

Getting praise from high places is likely a big pat on the back for Sony and Insomniac. 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 became an instant classic upon release and has come to be heralded as one of the best PS4 games of all-time. As well, it is also considered one of the best superhero games of all-time. As such, turning one of the franchise’s most well-received recent additions with Miles Morales into the central protagonist for a follow-up seems to be a recipe for success. After all, the trailer does feature the beloved action from Marvel’s Spider-Man in the context of Miles Morales as the protagonist and next Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was far from the only highlight at the PS5 reveal. While it certainly shined among the games, others like Resident Evil 8: Village, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Pragmata were also some of the event’s most memorable game previews.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is currently in development exclusively on PS5 and will release during the holiday season of 2020.
