Iron Man VR has only been out for a few days, but it is already the second best-selling game in the UK. The PS4 exclusive charts at number two behind The Last Of Us Part II.

After several delays, Iron Man VR launched on PlayStation 4 on July 3rd. The PlayStation VR exclusive debuted at number 2, which is surprising because the UK charts only track physical copies of the game. It’s also surprising because the game is a PlayStation 4 and VR exclusive, so the install base for PlayStation VR is lower than the PS4 overall. However, a killer app like Iron Man will hopefully draw in more people to buy PlayStation VR.

Unsurprisingly, The Last Of Us Part II remains number one in the UK. The game continues to sell incredibly well. Coming off the successful PlayStation 5 reveal, Sony is starting off July on the right foot by taking the top two spots on the UK game sales charts. Sony will probably continue to dominate July when Ghosts of Tsushima launches on July 17th, too. Ghosts of Tsushima is the last big PlayStation 4 exclusive before the launch of the next-generation consoles.

The game was originally revealed during Sony’s “State of Play” last March and was initially scheduled to launch earlier in 2020. Due to COVID-19 delaying almost every game, Iron Man VR was postponed indefinitely until it finally got its release date of July 3rd. Now, it’s the biggest exclusive for Sony’s virtual reality headset, and the commercial success of the game is good reason for Sony to continue committing to its virtual reality platform.

While game charts in other countries have not been released yet, this is nonetheless a solid indication that Iron Man VR is a commercial success. Despite early sales success, however, Camouflaj’s first VR game has had mixed reviews from critics. The Metacritic average is only at 75, but the concept of flying around as Tony Stark has convinced enough people to buy the game. Iron Man has become a very popular Marvel hero, and being able to blast enemies in virtual reality is an exciting concept. Iron Man VR is out now on PlayStation VR.
