Fallout 76 has been the subject of much rumor and speculation since Bethesda released its announcement trailer. Fans have been analyzing the trailer for clues about what the upcoming game may have in store, and some think they may have even figured out its release date.
Early on in the Fallout 76 trailer, viewers catch a glimpse of a Pip-Boy with the date 27 OCT 2102. This has led many to think that Fallout 76 will launch on October 27 of this year. If Fallout 76 is launching in 2018, then a late October or early November release date does seem most likely (every Bethesda-published Fallout game has released in October or November), but even so, October 27 is almost certainly not the game’s release date.
That’s because October 27 lands on a Saturday, and video games tend to release on Tuesdays or Fridays. It’s possible Bethesda could buck the trend and decide to launch the game on a Saturday, but that seems highly unlikely. However, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that Fallout 76 could launch in the week of October 27, so maybe fans can expect it on Tuesday, October 23 or Friday, October 26. Tuesday, October 30 also seems like a distinct possibility.
More evidence that Fallout 76 is set in October, and therefore may very well release in October, can be found in the trailer. On the shelf in the bedroom, viewers can spot a Jack-O-Lantern, and there is also a trophy for a Halloween costume contest as well.
There’s plenty of evidence that Fallout 76 is set in October, and while past Fallout release dates suggest an October release is most likely, it’s worth pointing out that the game will have stiff competition this year. In October alone, the video game industry will see the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V, and Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, which is set to release on October 26. Considering this, launching the game at a time when it wouldn’t have to compete against such huge releases may make more sense.
Luckily, fans who are anxious to learn Fallout 76’s release date along with story and gameplay details may not have much longer to wait. The game is set to be showcased at Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference on June 10, so those interested should be sure to tune in.
Fallout 76 is in development for unspecified platforms.
