Overwatch fans are always discovering new secrets and Easter eggs in the maps, even years after the maps have been released. Overwatch fans have recently discovered a reference to Diablo 3 on a map two years after the map was released.

On the final leg of the Blizzard World map, there are some barrels that break if you shoot or punch them. This isn’t unusual – there are breakables on almost every map – but these barrels have a very rare chance of a “legendary drop.” It produces the same lighting effect as the legendary drop animation in Diablo 3.

This makes sense, since Blizzard World is a love letter to (or blatant product placement for) Blizzard’s other juggernaut game series, and the final leg of the payload path is a gothic castle that harkens back to the Diablo series. There are many references to Diablo through this part of the map, and references to other Blizzard games all throughout the map.

The video was filmed by reddit user Owlero this year, but Blizzard actually mentioned the Easter egg in a 2017 Polygon article. Since the map didn’t come out until January of 2018, this hidden surprise was forgotten about until Owlero uncovered it again this year.
