Team Liquid, the eSports organization boasting more than 60 players specializing in 14 different games, has a new teammate: the Twitch streamer ItsSlikeR.

ItsSlikeR (or as he’s known everywhere except on Twitch: SlikeR) announced the signing in a live stream titled “Announcement today at 8pm UK” – and he went about the announcement in a way that is completely in-character: by pretending he was announcing something completely different before revealing the real news.

SlikeR spent a few minutes live on Twitch baiting his fans by acting like he’s signed a deal with Microsoft’s streaming platform Mixer before dropping the news.

“Starting from Friday, basically tomorrow, I will be streaming on Mixer! I know, I know. I thought through it hard,” SlikeR exclaimed. “I’m going to Tweet out the video of Mixer right now through my Twitter.”

Then, when SlikeR moved to his computer to retweet the supposed Mixer video, he revealed the actual announcement video, which showed that he had been signed by Team Liquid.

SlikeR, who lives in Manchester, England but is from Iraq, is more well-known as a streaming personality than as a professional eSports player. In fact, SlikeR was the biggest Twitch affiliate to not recieve a partnership with the site up until March 2020, when he finally was accepted as a partner after more than 15 applications to the program.

Even though SlikeR does play League of Legends, Valorant, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Minecraft on his streams, he’s most-well-known for his IRL streams, where he reacts to the latest happenings in the online world.

There’s not much information about what exactly SlikeR’s role will be in the organization, but it’s likely that he’ll keep on producing the same content that his fans love.
