Season of the Chosen is here, and the new Battlegrounds playlist activity is pretty strong. These short missions have clearly evolved from Beyond Light’s Empire Hunts, and while they’re a similar experience, I’ve found they’re paced a lot better with just three short encounters and especially chaotic actions. I think I’m going to enjoy grinding these Battlegrounds out for hammer charges throughout Season 13, but there’s one thing I’ve already have enough of — getting crushed over and over by the god damn Cabal drop pods....

After four days of almost non-stop news, this year’s digital version of Gamescom has finally winded down. It’s been an especially good week for indie games, with dozens of independent titles getting highlighted during Gamescom. This includes Monster Harvest, a new game from publisher Merge Games and developer Maple Powered Games that looks set to be a fun twist on Stardew Valley. Few games have left quite as memorable an impression on the indie game scene in recent years as the pixel-based farming sim, so it’s understandable that plenty of other farming games have been popping up....

Developer NetherRealm Studios teases its big plans for Injustice 2 at Comic-Con 2016, which includes a Friday panel where it will reveal new characters, gameplay, and more. Although Injustice 2 was only just revealed a few months ago, fans are already chomping at the bit waiting for the next big character reveal. Like most ARPGs, Minecraft Dungeons is meant to be played with friends. Nintendo has announced its first Direct since 2019, a full feature 50-minute stream that will show off what’s coming in the first part of 2021 alongside some Smash Bros. news. While everyone’s clambering for some Zelda reveals or even a glimmer of hope for the Metroid series, I’m sat with wide-eyes, still wishing Nintendo would drop a successor to the Wii Sports game for the Switch. Rockstar releases a brand new mode for Grand Theft Auto V’s online mode, turning players loose in a confined space with limited ammo and multiple opponents. Rockstar Games’ open world crime title Grand Theft Auto 5 continues to see success, as the game reaches the point of having 70 million copies shipped. Today, the video game software firm Take-Two Interactive — parent company of developers Rockstar Games and 2K Games —reported the earnings for its fiscal Q2 2017, which ended September 30, in order to give its investors a general idea of the financial outlook for the future....

Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of those rare game that keeps selling for far longer and far more than anyone could possibly anticipate. Three years ago, GTA 5 became the most profitable entertainment product of all time, but the success has not stopped there. It has been revealed that GTA 5 was the third-best-selling game in the United Kingdom for the entire year of 2020. They’re having their entire Grand Theft Auto Online accounts wiped, from cash to characters....

Just a few days ago on the official Guild Wars 2 website, ArenaNet confirmed that the impending Steam release for its 2012 MMORPG sequel has been indefinitely delayed outside of 2020. Revealed back in August to finally be heading to Valve’s digital distribution platform, the main reason for this delay is so that ArenaNet can properly launch the End of Dragons expansion without issue. “Our number one priority right now is crafting Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons with the high quality you expect and deserve,” reads the blog post....

Guilty Gear Strive is available now, and if you’ve been playing around with the characters and combos in this fast-paced anime fighter, than you’ll already know that there’s a lot to learn, and you might not be able to take it all in at once. That’s the main takeaway at least, and if you want to learn how to perform big combos and deal massive damage to your opponents, you’ll need to learn more about Roman Cancels, a classic fighting game mechanic that has a variety of uses here in Guilty Gear Strive....

Despite the utter glut of fighting games out there right now, the sad fact is that things are winding down for most of them. Games like Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, and Dragon Ball FighterZ are reaching the end of their post-launch content roadmaps, which means we need some new blood out there soon. Luckily, Arc System Works has been teasing its next big Guilty Gear game for a while now, and now we know when we’ll be able to play Guilty Gear Strive....

This year sucks. There’s no getting around it. Even outside of the pandemic, everything is shit - everything but video games. One such video game is Hades, a roguelike so good it’s got me playing my Nintendo Switch in every free moment I find. As soon as I finish work, I load it up and go for a few runs. By the time I’ve done two or three, it’s time to put my kids to bed and settle down for some TV with my partner....
