Fans of Halo can now enter a contest that will allow them to become part of the franchise’s highly-anticipated television adaptation. Barring delays, the Halo TV show is expected to drop in 2021. In an effort to encourage people to donate to a new charity, Microsoft has started a competition known as the All-In Challenge campaign. Halo fans can enter the sweepstakes, putting themselves into contention at winning an ell-expenses paid trip to Budapest and be in a scene of the Halo TV show in full costume....

Despite only appearing in two Halo games to date (ODST and Reach), Firefight has had quite the history. It hasn’t appeared since Reach, and it was difficult to throw any parties together in that game the older it got. Thanks to it and ODST joining the Master Chief Collection however, Firefight has been renewed. 343 Industries did a great job at bringing back all the maps and game types, and even retroactively applying some customization options to ODST’s Firefight....

During his keynote address at this year’s Develop Conference, Hideo Kojima states that he is confident that his new game, Death Stranding, will be his best yet. War ravages Japan as civil war begins between two sides. Hiro, a confused but determined child who is scattered away from his family, must now face the unfriendly world around him. He toils through the Yamana clan’s region, trying to reunite with his family. You’d expect this plot to be in a big triple-A game, but no. It’s a Game Boy-inspired adventure called Hiro’s Escape. Studio T-REX (Austin Dixon) wants to create an emotional narrative experience lasting 10+ hours that mirrors the real-life experiences of millions of refugees throughout the world....

Getting everything right isn’t the point of Hitman 3. There isn’t such a thing as the perfect assassination, only pulling off the assassination that you want. However, there is a stark wrinkle in this philosophy and that comes when visiting Mendoza in The Farewell mission. Diana Burnwood is in the field and if things go wrong, it’s not just your life on the line, it’s hers as well. There’s still room for flexibility, of course, this is Hitman we’re talking about, after all....

The Apex Predator mission in Hitman 3’s Berlin is already a bit of a mystery. During the first run-through, you won’t be given any specific targets and you’re merely instructed to take down an unquantified number of these enemies until they finally give up. It isn’t until afterward that you can see all the targets and get a specific count of five. Even so, there are still three unknown challenges that are permanently hidden behind a veil of redaction....

Grand Theft Auto Online is getting on in years, but support for the game has yet to stop. Just yesterday, on April 6th, a new update was added which reintroduces the Peyote plant to Los Santos, allowing players to transform themselves into an animal for a time. The last time the Peyote plant was brought into Grand Theft Auto Online was last October as a sort of surprise halloween event. Its unclear why the plant is making a return now of all times, but it provides some wacky fun nonetheless....

Horizon Zero Dawn was recently made available as a free download across PlayStation consoles, so part of me is tempted to revisit Aloy’s debut adventure for one final attempt to break into its mysterious open-world. I’ve tried a number of times before, although the setting, characters, and gameplay never managed to enrapture me the same way similar games have. My struggles with Horizon are definitely due to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launching within weeks of Guerrilla Games’ open-world epic, with Nintendo redefining many aspects of a genre that had long grown stale....

Icewind Dale, the PC game celebrates its 20th birthday today (June 29th, 2020). It was my favorite video game at the time and it brought my love for video games and Dungeons & Dragons together. The Destiny franchise offers a deep world filled with exotic locations, compelling alien races, and striking visuals. Anyone who has seen concept art for the game can attest to how stunning it can be, whether that vision actually makes it into the game or not. Destiny 2 continues that tradition of incredible art, by exploring even more of Bungie’s version of our solar system.
