For years, Microsoft insisted that the Kinect was an integral part of the Xbox One’s ecosystem. But then the company started changing its tune, dropping Kinect gestures with an Xbox One interface update a couple of years ago, and releasing new Xbox One consoles that can’t support the peripheral without special adapters. Microsoft has since discontinued both the Kinect and the adapter necessary to use it on Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and PC, and has revealed why it has made these decisions....

Tabletop gaming in the age of social distancing hasn’t been the easiest thing. Services like Roll20 have stepped up to make RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons transition in easier way. But for games like HeroClix, where all the stats are on the figures themselves, fans have to get creative. Fortunately, HeroClix maker WizKids is here to help. The new HeroClix set is X-Men House of X, due out in December. In the six years since its release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has cemented itself as one of the biggest, greatest RPGs ever made. The size of its open-world, the detail in its story and characters, the sheer amount of stuff to do and things to see is staggering and players all over the world are still finding secrets and hidden areas after all this time. With the release of the Special Edition on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, which includes three massive expansions that increase the size and depth of the world, and the new versions of the game available on the Switch and PSVR, there is almost no excuse not to play this, one of the greats of the western-style RPG....

Known for keeping his projects close to the chest, Hideo Kojima has only vaguely talked about what his next game - codenamed Project Ogre - would be about. He didn’t open up regarding an actual plot, gameplay, or anything we would associate with true details of a game. Rather, Kojima talked about the kind of themes players would expect, namely that Project Ogre would be a “subdued experience.” One game that Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions is working is Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which will debuting for audiences at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards....

Hideo Kojima is one of the biggest names in the gaming industry and this is undoubtedly due to the legacy of the Metal Gear Solid games and his auteur-based approach to gaming. The game maker separated from Konami a few years ago and since then Kojima has been frequently updating Twitter with his experiences of visiting famous organizations and celebrities. This has led to plenty of speculation about future projects for Kojima Productions but the director revealed a story about meeting Gabe Newell from Valve that seems to be just a nice anecdote about the industry....

It won’t be long now before IO Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive’s forthcoming stealth-action sequel Hitman 2 will be available, as the title recently went gold just several weeks ago before its November launch. Now, the developer and publisher have decided to reveal the game’s first elusive target that Agent 47 will have to take out, with the baddie being played by none other than the prolific actor, Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings)....

Hitman 3’s The Show Must Go On challenge instructs players to make Hush reset the test pods in Chongqing, China. The Hitman series has been a favorite of gamers for close to 15 years, entertaining players with its intuitive gameplay and flexibility when it comes to its major kills. After watching Elden Ring’s extended gameplay preview many, many times since it was unleashed last week, I’m starting to think that the much-anticipated 2022 title is already doing some things that show it will almost inevitably improve upon some of the biggest weaknesses of modern open world games. To be transparent, I will admit that I previously compared Elden Ring‘s hype to Cyberpunk 2077‘s hype, and I will stand by that warning....

BioWare sci-fi RPG Anthem is one of the most hotly anticipated games releasing in the next 12 months. The game will allow players to zip around in mech suits, exploring a vast open world filled with ghastly creatures, points of interest, and opportunities to put their mech’s abilities to good use. While everyone will have access to these Anthem gameplay features come February 22, 2019 (the global release date), publisher EA has also outlined several ways to play the game early....

Dungeons & Dragons can be a difficult hobby to enjoy in person, as it requires a group of four or five people to sync up their schedules on a regular basis. This self-isolation period, though, has prevented people from playing D&D and other tabletop games in person. Many fans have taken to enjoying the game on stream. Fortnite’s Season 4 Marvel crossover is still going strong now that November has rolled around. Though recent leaks hinted at Ghost Riders inclusion in Fortnite’s Season 4’s content ahead of his release, players have a chance to unlock him early. Though Epic Game’s phrasing seems to indicate that the Ghost Rider skin will come to the shop eventually, players have the opportunity to earn the skin through playing. To earn Fortnite’s Ghost Rider skin, players need to enter in and win the Ghost Rider cup before the event ends on November 4....

E3 2020 may be canceled and in-person events may be off of the table, but that doesn’t mean digital alternatives can’t be done instead. Today IGN announced what may be an all-digital mini-E3 of sorts named Summer of Gaming. The June event will feature showcases from 10 or more video game publishers and developers. Notable absences from the list include Microsoft and Nintendo. Both were involved with E3 2020 before it was canceled and both will almost certainly be doing an E3 alternative show of their own....

Immortals Fenyx Rising, one of Ubisoft’s newest IPs, is a humorous and satirical take on the fascinating tales of Greek mythology. It follows the titular Fenyx, a player-created character who is tasked with defeating the evil Typhon, who has been vengefully shattering the gods from their respective essences and turning mortals to stone. Despite their mortal status, Feynx must reconnect the gods to their essences and fulfill the prophecy of taking down Typhon....

Daniel Craig’s run as 007 is over, and while there aren’t any concrete details about what the next James Bond film will be, when it’s coming out, or who will star in it, series producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have already said plenty about what they’re looking for in their new secret agent. And what they aren’t....

Grounded’s August update adds a variety of new content to Obsidian Entertainment’s extremely-popular survival game, including a brand new perks system. Under this system, players have the opportunity to unlock 13 different buff-granting Mutations, though exactly what must be done in order to earn these perks is not made immediately clear. Fortunately, unlocking all of the Mutations in Grounded is fairly straightforward, and this guide has all of the details that fans will need....

Rockstar has revealed the full details for GTA Online‘s latest update: Business Battles. “The revamped Business Battles featured as part of the Los Santos Summer Special are even more lucrative this week,” reads a press release from Rockstar regarding the event. “There’s chatter (and grainy security camera footage floating around the dark web) suggesting that The Diamond’s vault may have received a shipment of gems this week.” According to Rockstar, this upcoming event will allow you to “stage a cooperative assault on an idling aircraft carrier and fight your way through one of several factories to earn hefty pay-days” as well as stage a Casino Heist in pursuit of the contents of the aforementioned vault in The Diamond casino....

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life introduced a new minigame to the series called Clan Creator, which unlocks in Chapter Five. This RTS -style game sees players controlling various units on the battlefield while trying to eliminate their enemy’s units. There are five different types of units that you can use, as well as leaders. You can recruit new leaders throughout the game in a variety of ways, such as completing substories, speaking to people on the street, via mini-games, and more....

Developer 343 Industries has kicked off its first “flight” for Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC, starting with a small taste of Halo: Reach on the platform. The Halo Reach beta test will last until July 1st, but keep in mind that only a small group of players have been selected to participate in the flight.
